Yep I know who he is - but apparently the market for Dermott is decent and NYI are in Cap HELL right now. Every little bit counts to resign Ryan Pulock and Matt Barzal. They might want a more puck moving defenseman with more offensive upside.

Dermott has been involved in Mack Weegar conversations, so clearly he's sought after.

Mayfield costs 1mil and is better than dermott I doubt he’s the odd man out for a small / lesser return

And I'm taking a nobody (Ross Johnston, although huge) off their books and replacing him with Engvall.

Involved doesn’t mean he’s 1 for 1/ like a hot commodity. It just means Toronto wouldn’t have space for dermott so he’s involved in the trade since he’s not needed

Dermott>mayfield. Not even a smidge of doubt. Dermott will also continue to widen that gap. Dermott played in the top 4 and even top pair during injuries and looked great. Dermott leads mayfield in nearly every stat.
