Description
DET fan trying to play TB GM.
Most of these 'cap dump' deals we always talk about don't seem to go as AGMs have them. Most end up being bought out, or traded for a return no one predicted on AGM. So I'm trying to steer my trades more towards what I think might actually happen. So I might get yelled at a lot for this one. ha

All these moves are to have room to sign/keep Serg and Cirelli.

I'm guessing TB won't be able to move all these players needed, so I did buyout one as a worst case.

Bought out Johnson as he can restrict where he goes in a trade, they already tried to trade him, waive him, etc. TB didn't want to give up more assets to move him. Outside of 2 years, his cap hit is less than 2M. He can then sign anywhere he wants at more of market value.

Bottom line is it is going to be interesting to see how TB gets rid of all this money.

One of the problems is you dont even have enough cap for one extra player. People get hurt, people get sick, people get benched.

Most injuries dont go on LTIR

I proposed PHI gets Tyler Johnson and Cernak, (who at his age and salary would fit right in their top 4), as you've spent almost 3mil to buyout Johnson, which would be enough to fill those extra skater spots. Philly is rumoured to need a 3C or 3LW if Patrick isn't healthy, so Johnson would be in the PHI lineup, but really its big body, stay at home Cernak theyre after. Something like laughton, a 3rd and some prospects from PHI or a 2nd and some prospects. Philly needs a RD and could move Ghost or JVR to fit in Johnson.

Killorn and Palat are both worth a 2nd (at least) but cap spaces are getting shorter each day.

Buyout window has closed for Tampa.. BUT a question ... when is next buyout window?

If it soon .. I would put Stamkos on LTIR now .. then waive/buyout TJ/Gourde .. yes you can be waived again .. the cap of those 2 deadweights is around 11M .. so Tampa only pays out 1/3 Year 1 on buyout .. so "frees up/kicks can down road" savings of around 8M .. which is Stamkos salary ..

However we still short 5Mish .. so 1 good player to go and/or 1 RFA traded .. or leave Stamkos on LTIR ...

Valid point about the buyout window being closed. Didn't think of that.
Are any RFAs going to arbitration? Then a buyout window re-opens..... if not, then I guess I'm dead wrong on the TJ buyout. ha
