Title alone is worth twenty stars.

edited after like: I'm trying to stay optimistic on Schultz. Maybe with Orlov, the two of them produce some offense? Or maybe they have a secret plan to trade Carlson for their next franchise wing. Those are my two thoughts, there. I suppose if it's the second one, it could be next summer, but as you pointed out, Schmidt didn't exactly return a future franchise player under a flat cap.

Boyd was a big revelation to me this offseason when I was trying to find underrated FAs and discovered he has a higher p/60 than Bo Horvat lol wow fun times

i mean in all fairness it took him 3-4 years to get 1 season worth of games....

Siegs would work in this scenario if A.A. stays in the AHL. I really have high hopes for A.A. and feel it's best for him to start getting some NHL playing time, while practicing with the big club.

I liked his numbers for a 4th liner for sure. And at 700K signing with the Leafs, I think the Caps lost out big time. If the cap hit had been over a million, I could have seen it being an issue.

I can't be optimistic with Schultz. It is plain unforgivable to me.

i htink he's still 1 year away from being NHL ready. Looks like hes doing well in the KHL worst case they can let him play there for the rest of the year. imo KHL is better than the AHL. Sieg is a really good stay at home D man i dont think AA or Fehervary atm are better players

The path may be different, but I think most would agree AA's ceiling is much much higher than both Seigs and Fehervary.

I'm confused by it. I'm guessing the logic is that Schultz got 51 points in 2016-17.

But last year Schultz was 8th in hits, 5th in blocks, and 5th in even strength points, and 7th in shot attempt percentage..... among defensemen playing for Pittsburgh.

Bobby Ryan for one year at $1 Million with six seasons over 50 points seems like a better bet than Justin Schultz at $4 million, with one season just over fifty points.

Yeah. But I'm sure the Caps' organization put a lot of thought into identifying team needs and decided they wanted an offensive defenseman.

It's funny because they actually do great at the draft going best-player-available all day, but then when they start analyzing team needs, they make these decisions that don't make any sense sometimes, and kind of ignore what is and isn't on the market.
