Don't worry that pick will be a top 5 pick and will take a lot more than a d prospect and a career AHL player to get it from Detroit.

I actually don't think the Wings will be bottom 5, they have made some good moves this offseason that have flown under the radar.

The Wing's won't be 39 points bad but they will finish in the bottom 3 the only reason I said top 5 is because the Wing's have dropped back in every draft lottery they have been in.

If your calling valimaki a d prospect you are a massive idiot who knows nothing about hockey.

Välimäki is a defenseman right? He has yet to play a full season in the NHL so that makes him a prospect right? so he is a d prospect

I didn't realize how bad Detroit was last year, like I knew they were really bad, but didn't realize they had both the worst offensive and defensive numbers in the league.

But I do see massive improvements, especially on the blueline, Staal isn't worth his contract but he's still a solid player, Stecher is super underrated and I really wanted the Flames to sign him. You also get DeKeyser back and healthy, those 3 guys combined with Greiss should really cut your goals against significantly. Offensively, you will be a little better but I imagine you will still be in the bottom 5.

What else would you call a 22 year old defenseman that is Calder eligible? He didn't comment to the quality of the prospect.

What he did in free agency was impressive and it painted a clear picture of what he's trying to do. Going in to the 2021-22 season there will be only 2 players with contracts he didn't negotiate not counting ELCs. I was surprised when Stecher and Namestnikov signed in Detroit. With the Namestnikov signing it they have even less of a need for Neilson and Bertuzzi filing arbitration that might give Yzerman to buy Neilson out. I'm even a little excited to see how they do the upcoming season. But the Lions have taught Detroit fans not to get to excited.
