Ottawa says please stop trying to trade your trash to us, we’re not rebuilding anymore, try Detroit or LA.

Wouldn't Dipietro, a local product, be of interest to take on just $3 mill for one year on Eriksson? What if Murray doesn't pan out? I figured he'd be a good backup option that could pan out for the future?

The Sens have a lot of goalie prospects, so DiPietro is of no interest since he's not exactly the most exciting. Murray was primarily acquired because Nilsson is injured to start the season (and because they paid a cheap price to acquire a starting goaltender) but they already have a backup in Marcus Hogberg who is young and showed flashes last year. Behind him is Daccord, who is the heir to the throne, and then Gustavsson, both of whom have numbers that don't tell the whole story in the AHL because they were absolutely spectacular behind an awful blueline in Belleville (Daccord especially). Then there's Mandolese (QMJHL goalie of the year), Sogaard (recent 2nd rounder) and their 2020 3rd rounder Merilainen. They don't need another mediocre goalie prospect in DiPietro to take on Eriksson when their forward corps is already filled up and they barely have room for their own prospects.

    1. Pettersson is way too low of salary for an 8 year deal
    2. Duclair is a wasted signing
    3. Halak is a wasted signing
    4. Dallas doesn’t need Roussel
    5. Seattle will not claim Holtby.

    1. New economics of the league given the pandemic could change things up a bit
    2. your opinion, so fair enough
    3. see point #2
    4. Forecasting a deadline move with a familiar player/team, nut you could very well be right here (that's why this isn't real)
    5. Awfully bold statement given that we don't know how this season plays out and Holtby could perform well enough to show he'd worthy

EP's value could change if the cap changes. I think the issue is term. With cap uncertainty & his status an as RFA, I think he goes with a five year deal like Rantanen & Aho. Using them as comparables, AAV would suggest maybe $8.8M, right between them.
