A tight fit

Team: 2020-21 Tampa Bay Lightning
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 20, 2020
Published: Oct. 20, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Killorn and Paquette get traded for draft picks (any teams). Johnson (TBL retains $1m) plays IC in Ottawa for one year, and then is left unprotected to go home to Seattle in the expansion draft, (Stutzle spends time learning how to play C on small North American rink in AHL). Teams exchange backup goaltenders to save TBL more cap space (since Ottawa likely to lose Hogberg in expansion draft in any event). Cernak goes to Ottawa to partner Chabot and Zaitsev (Ottawa retains $2m) plays with Sergachev and Foote on TBL's right side. Gaborik slides from IR to LTIR. Math works - just - if Cirelli and Sergachev accept short term deals at $4.3m. Still a very good team, though not as deep or experienced.

I read today that it's possible Stammer ends up on LTIR the entire season so that might save the Bolts bacon. That being said, that's some pretty good GM'ing but I can't say I know what the Sens need - I just know they have a lot of kids coming in.

I can't see why the sens would pass on a deal like this.

This is neat and definitely still an elite team but

Just kinda leaves them in a similar position next year

Could work.. although Killorn probably better going to a contender than rebuilding Kings team. Killorn has immense value ... performance, contract and leadership .. REALLY hope Tampa keeps him and ships out Gourde

I think that's what they would prefer to do but those NTC's are killing them. Their only possible reprieve at the moment is if Stammer goes on LTIR

Not sure of that .. COVID and flat cap is killing player market .. they all know that and it will be WORSE for next couple years. Teams will be breaking those clauses left and right .. for example all Tampa players were asked to waive except top 4 .. Stamkos was asked.to waive ...every team is doing the same .. look for 20 more "Tyler Jonson scenarios" where he ultimately is waived and then dealing can begin ..

That, too. It's brutal out there.
