Considering he makes 11 million and does more harm than good with his locker room toxicity I would say so. He'll be playing overseas within 3 years

so much lockeroom toxicity they had to fly him out to be with the team while he was injured just to raise moral (and it worked)

also LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL borderline bust? He's a top 5 playmaker in the league and he just turned 23, not to mention his penalty-killing/shotblocking/2 way defensive game

does this sound like a bust?:
9th in primary assists in 2019-20
19th in points in 2019-20
9th in takeaways in 2019-20

3rd in primary assists in 2018-19 (1st at 5v5!!)
11th in points in 2018-19 (9th at 5v5!!)
10th in takeaways in 2018-19 (14th at 5v5!!)

That rise in morale sure fueled Toronto's magical run all the way to (checks notes)..... A game 5 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets....? He's not a total bust but he's severely overrated and gives back what he scored in greediness, locker room toxicity, and ZEROtoughness. I'm all for analytics but he's overrated zero cap 😎💯

it's funny everybody says marner at $10.8M is a HILARIOUS overpay and he deserves 8-9 and yet radio silence for rantanen who got $9.25M for the same term

also, if you watched hockey you'd've noticed the team went on a historically good winning streak after Keefe took over and Marner came back - methinks you are trolling

MacKinnon is better than Matthews and Rantanen is his ace in crime. If you seriously believe Matthews is better than MacKinnon u have some serious bias going on. That "tremendous win streak" didn't end up mattering and Marner being payed 10.8 Million wasn't able to help get past one of the weakest teams in the "playoffs". The same winger you're disrespecting? 21 points in 15 games. He wasn't the reason his team lost, can you really say the same about marner

I agree this guy is just trolling. What do you think of the trade?

Im not really sure what you are trying to prove with that graph? Both players score at extremely similar rates and that is ehy marner is overpaid and should probably be making 9.5M.

Also you are being trolled by that guy, should have been obvious with the word "bust"

I wouldn't do it personally, we aren't really getting better with that trade. The prospects are fantastic and tierney is solid but Marner is a core piece of the team going forward imo

well, over their last 82 games its' not super similar.

Rantanen - 35g 37a 72p
Marner - 21g 71a - 92p

Ironically, nylander has outplayed rantanen for the last 82gp as well, so idk whether that means rantanen is paid too much or willy is just a steal

Keeping in mind marner regularly is top 10 in primary assists and comes within the top 15 of point totals amongst much older competition, I think he's hugely underrated

I'd feel better if he were paid 9.5ish, but that's only a 1.3m overpay in the case, which is effectively one league minimum forward of difference - not colossal

under the new coach, he was scoring at a 98 point pace, I expect him to really hit another gear (as most players do) from 23-26, at which point he'll be mostly worth his contract

I don't think the Sens are moving Brady in any deal unless it involves McDavid, but I think the Leafs would take that offer.
