Marner On The Third Line

Created by: DartGuy86
Team: 2020-21 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 18, 2020
Published: Nov. 18, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Curious to see Marner drive the 3rd line, much like how Pittsburgh utilized Kessel, but you know... better. Obviously this will have a negative effect on our top 6, but in different situations players can always be moved around. I'm predicting Barabanov makes the top 6(shouldn't be hard, considering the competition).

In before the "slowest 4th line in the league" guys.

I think that marner would acc do well on that line and it probably gives them a secondary scoring boost. Only thing would be that this would reduce the ice time the big 4 forwards get.

On 5v5, yes. I’m double-shifting all these b*tches on the PP(except Marner. He’s on PK too)

I don’t like it. Matthews and marner are too good together. I’d put nylander there before I ever moved marner to the third line

I would try it when Abramov becomes 3C who is a huge scoring threat with how he is offensively. Some people in the industry, my russian colleagues said that Amirov reminds them of Kucherov in a huge way..

So if the Leafs can get this:

Amirov - Matthews - Hyman
Robertson - Tavares - Nylander
Mikheyev - Abramov - Marner

as their top-9 that would be deadly.

looks nasty, but you think Abramov makes it before Hallander?

Marner is garbage without a top tier center. Couldnt do anything on a line with JVR and Bozak (a better center than Kerfoot) so itd be just a foolish idea to attempt this

I believe they crack the lineup in same time, Hallander is going to be a dependant 4th liner who is gonna play a lot on PK while Abramov is 3C with playdriving abilities (sort of like what Kadri was).

I disagree. 61 points as a rookie is not nothing. That was also the most productive season of Bozak’s career, so 🤷🏻‍♂️

Also he was playing under a coach who was treating him like garbage. Give your head a shake if you think Marner is a garbage player without good linemates.

Far from Bozaks best season.. 2 years earlier was much more impressive... and was on the top line against top dmen.. whereas with Marner they were 3rd liners going against lesser lines and got a lot of PP time. Marner is nothing without Tavares or Matthews

Sorry, you're just wrong. Marner owns whatever line he plays on. As for Bozak, technically his best season was in 13-14, 49 points in 58 games. But his highest point total for a season was in 2016-17(Marner's rookie year) with 55 points. Also, how did Bozak and JVR do without Marner or Kessel? JVR literally thanked Marner for making him look good after signing with the Flyers lol.
