I don't think Auston Matthews is enough for Jones and debrois.

If Columbus feels Jones might walk, they jump on this.

not to rain on your parade or anything, but we'd have to leave one of those top 4 guys exposed in the expansion draft, and seeing at Muzzin and Brodie have a NMC ... Rielly or Jones would be getting snatched

that's why we're likely running with Holl this year - he's decent (and dirt cheap for a top 4 shutdown dman), but he's also a dman we can expose and not really care if we lose to Seattle

but they have to leave someone exposed who's under contract next season with either 40 games in 2020-21 or 70 games across 19-20 and 20-21

The only one I can think of that they could expose would be Dermott, but he's an RFA so idk if it counts

EDIT just checked, it doesn't. Unless they give dermott a contract, he doesn't meet the eligibility

This isn't out if the realm of a potential deals. I'd probably still say no as the jackets mostly because Dubois still has room to grow and his ceiling could make this not worth it with Jones included.

Yes under the format of 8 skaters and 1 goalie you could protect 4 Dmen then the question is what forward are you willing to lose or what prospect or high draft pick are you willing to give up to get Seattle to choose the player you want

Realistically teams need go accept they may just lose a decent player and move be on. Look how badly Vegas fleeced everyone because of fears of losing a good, but not superstar player. Florida and Anaheim in particular set their franchise back by years with their moves.

Covid sucks and I feel for anyone effected that’s suffered a lose but it’s brought us the flat cap for a min next 3 yrs and it’s became Seattle’s golden goose you think Vegas fleeced team wait until you see what they get in return either for not picking a player as a players cap hit is going to become more important then skill to some teams and there going to get massive hauls for taking bad contracts covid sucks for the world but Seattle just hit the jackpot
