Hallander isn’t a good 4C. Most likely he’s gonna play LW. A 3rd line LW I would say. Has some scoring ability and isn’t a bad two-way. But also isn’t the best Defensive Forward. Or the biggest player either. Descent size though compared to most Leafs prospects..lol.

And he isn’t afraid to play infront of the net. Pens scouts compared his game to P.Hornqvist. But I don’t think as much of a scoring touch. Hornqvist isn’t a huge guy, and neither is Hallander. But both score by positioning and causing havoc in front of the net. And that’s something that the Leafs are missing with their prospects. He should have a clear path to the NHL with the leafs. Because of his style of play!! The leafs were gonna draft him. But choose Sean Durzi instead.

He’s a descent prospect. A “C+” prospect. “B-“ at best. Most likely an NHL player. But a bottom 6. And I would say he’s gonna be a 3rd line LW next year or the year after. He’s not ready this year!!

That was the hope we had for him as a Pens fans. And Toronto is pretty deep with their bottom 6, so I don’t see him breaking into the line-up this year. He wouldn’t have with the Pens either. But Pens fans were hoping 21-22 or 22-23 he’d be ready to play LW on the 3rd line.

Hope that helps alittle with what to expect from Hallander!! I don’t think he is a Center!! I believe he plays LW and has been. He’s definitely a left-handed shot. Doubtful he’s playing Center at the NHL level.

"leafs are young and inexperienced, they need some more vets"

*leafs acquire several vets, role players and potential hall of famers*

And Hallander being ready this year at 20 years old is kind of crazy. I know LEAFS fans are new to him. But if you read my comment above. You can get an idea of atleast what Pens fans and Pens scouts, analysts expected from him!!

This is just lazy trading, sending players back to former teams. Just another homer who thinks other teams want their extra parts or overpaid players.

I think Simmons, Thornton, Bogosian, Spezza, Vesey were all great signing.

The leafs need the vets in the locker room and definitely need the toughness that all 5 of those players bring. And nothing too much is expected offensively either. They have Matthews, JT, Marner, Nylander, Brodie and M.Rielly as their main offense and PP.

Although, I think they expect alittle from Vesey, and Simmons. But they are both tough as hell too. And if that’s all they bring, then that great and enough. But both of them should produce 30 plus points too. And hopefully Simmons can score 20; that would be a huge bonus.

And anything above 25 points for Thornton and Spezza is also great and a bonus. What both bring as far as experience and toughness is good enough. Especially for how young the team is everywhere else.

And Bogosian is also a great signing, IMO. And I think he still has some more left, being only 31. He adds experience, depth and toughness to a very young D otherwise too.

Simmons, Thornton, and Spezza are not worth 3rds, maybe 5ths at most

simmonds feels like a bit of a wildcard tbh, In 2018 the guy rounded out the year playing with a broken foot, torn pelvis/groin, torn thumb ligament, busted jaw - the guy is an absolute warrior. He's had nearly 9 months off (march 9th to presumably early december), not to mention getting to work with the leafs best-in-class sports science team. Remember how they effectively revived Tyler Ennis LOL

He says he's healthier than he's felt since 2017 (i.e. his last 30 goal season). In normal circumstances, 32 isn't THAT old, he could be an absolute home run for the team if he can stay healthy

They need the toughness, leadership and experience, that’s for sure. 20 plus goals is a bonus IMO. But yes, can score 30 if he plays 82. And Vesey is damn tough too!! I can see him breaking that career best 35 points if he gets some 2nd PP minutes.
