I think we keep Kampf for a 3rd which will be a late 3rd. He's a excellent 4th line defensive center and PK player

You're not wrong. I'd pay more for him TBH.

The penguins don't need another AHL level defense man.

TBH, I don’t know why people hate on Holl so much. He’s a solid 3rd pairing guy who has proven he can play higher in the lineup during a crisis.
The only reason I moved him is because with Roy and Dermott on the right side, I just don’t have room for him.

if you are replacing him with someone else so there is no room for him, that tells it all doesn't it. I mean people don't trade to replace players who they think are good.
For example. No penguins fan is trading to replace ZAR. We're ok there. We got other issues.

I get your point but improving at a position doesn’t mean the player you are replacing is trash. Even in this scenario, the only reason I’m keeping Dermott over Holl is because I think Dermott still has some upside and could break out yet. Holl, although he’s a solid 3RD, I don’t see him getting much better.

Even if you don’t like the trade, would you at least agree he’s better than Ceci?

he probably is better than Ceci, but that isn't the point. I don't see Ceci as their 3RD, they are going to go with Maniscalco at some point this season. He's just too good not to be playing on the NHL level.

There's really no reason for the Kings to do that, but if it were a 2021 2nd they MIGHT consider it.

Fair. In your opinion what would the ask be?

Tbh you're asking the wrong Kings fan. I love Matt Roy and have zero interest in trading him even if the return is a 1st round pick. Someone like @OldNYIfan might be a better person to ask

Okay cool. admittedly I don't follow LA that closely, and was just using the Muzzin trade as kind a template for this trade. Curious to hear opinions from Kings fans though.

Matt roy is very overrated. If im the leafs, i keep the ELC liljegren

Leaf fans forget how good liljegren is, hes not a bust yet.

I really like Matt Roy, but I think that this trade is a no-brainer for an entirely unexpected reason: it allows Los Angeles to protect three additional forwards in the expansion draft, from which Liljegren is exempt but Roy is not. (Right now, I anticipate LA protecting Doughty, Clague, Walker and Roy.) To put it simply, if the LA scouting staff thought that Liljegren was a reasonable replacement for Roy and made this trade, I would be happy, and if they didn't, I'd be happy then too.
