Johnson Option 1

Created by: Revans292
Team: 2020-21 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 7, 2020
Published: Dec. 10, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Kane is everything Ottawa was looking for when they signed Bobby Ryan except Kane is playing at his peek level and Bobby was on his way down.
I hate giving up Kane especially for so little but I see this as a 3 team trade and we get a nice haul of picks and 2 very solid albeit overpaid players to offset Kane’s loss.

SJS should swap them bad contracts. Take TJ for 50% of Vlasic.
Seems about fair to me.

Tampa needs to dump salary not take it on and Johnson is 1 season removed from 29 goals, I see him as a solid middle 6 guy and I see him tipping 25 goals in like a poor mans Pavalski.

No one wanted Tyler Johnson off waivers for free.

I like Tyler, but he has only scored more than 50 pts once, in the 2014 season. He is a 40-50 pt guy, small but with speed, he doesn't scream 1st- 2nd liner with that production, which makes him a 5mil 3rd liner in a flat cap league. Hes also 30 yrs old, 4 yrs at 5mil with a NTC. Which is a hard sell. (None of which is Tyler's fault, he is in a league where there is a 9mil jeff skinner, but hes also in a league where a JVR has negative value).

He has value to the right team. But he carries a negative value right now based on the flat cap alone. No one wanted him for free, so you have to see what you could add with him to get any kind of value back, and because of his NTC he can block a deal unless its to a situation he desires. (So I cant see him wanting to go to a rebuilding or struggling club, especially at 3rd line minutes). I cant see TB moving both Johnson and kilhorn for middling return, but dealing separately, and don't forget the NTCs.

Johnson might take 3rd line minutes on a good contending club where he can continue to produce, say a NYR, VGS or PHI kind of place, but none of those have cap unless they make moves, and only PHI would probably need his speed. (Maybe PHI moves Ghost somewhere and takes Johnson and a TB 1st for a mid level prospect?)

TB couldn't move him for nothing, they cant afford to move him for much of anything now.

With the NHL in just a month, TB has to move about 14mil in salaries and still get some lge minimum guys as replacements, but the clock is really ticking.

laugh Why would either Killorn or Johnson waive for San Jose? The high California taxes will eat them alive. And get real Evander Kane has 3 team trade list and there's no freaking way Ottawa is on it.

California taxes suck but players like playing here, a lot of our former players stay after they retire, sharks are one year removed from playing in the western conference finals and these two would help us return plus the rest of all our others players could mean for a big year!

And yea I know Kane likes it here and we like him but he’s one of the easier contracts to move besides this is all make believe anyways

Ottawa wanted a right shot scoring winger to replace Alfredsson, that's what they were looking for. Ryan produced the same in Ottawa as Anaheim, except he didn't have Getzlaf feeding him anymore, and although Spezza is a good playmaker, he's no Getzlaf. So Ryan became more of a playmaker than a finisher, but he was already transitioning to that in Anaheim. The points per game didn't decline, until the hand injuries caught up with him.

Bobby Ryan
Ana 11/12 82 games 31G 26A 57pts 0.70 pts per game
Ana 12/13 46 games 11G 19A 30pts 0.65 pts per game (shortened season 48 games)
Ott 13/14 70 games 23G 25A 48pts 0.69 pts per game
Ott 14/15 78 games 18G 36A 54pts 0.69 pts per game
Ott 15/16 81 games 22G 34A 56pts 0.69 pts per game

Opposing players began to target Ryans hands.

So starting off with the an incorrect assumption, and an insult to Ryan, is just stupid, when you don't know the facts. Without even talking about the player you want to trade, you've managed to make yourself look like an idiot.

Wow rude much dude? You don’t have to be an ass to get your point across.
Ottawa was looking for an aggressive playing power forward and finisher who checked hard and scored goals. Like ryan did in the 11/12 season,
Not the 11-23 goals a year they got.
Kane has been averaging 26-30 goals for the last 4 years checks Hard hits and is disruptive.
Yes they wanted an Alfredson replacement but
Didn’t get it. Kane is a LW not a RW I get that, But my statement is still accurate he is what Ottawa was looking for when the got Ryan save for the wing position.

Says then guy who starts off his thread description with idiotic take on a good trade, in an attempt to be funny, and it failed.

Again, look at the player Ryan was in his last two seasons in Anaheim, and that's who they knew they were getting, and got. Ignore the first two seasons in Anaheim because they are what he was, not what he was becoming.

As for Kane, get past the insults and idiotic comparisons, and then maybe we can discuss Kane, but until then, this is about you not understanding the trade you compared your trade to in the beginning.

What?
Dude you need to get over yourself.

Your legitimately saying Ottawa was happy with the player they got? I remember from the get go Ottawa feeling Bobby was a bust, you don’t give 7 mil a year to a 45-50 point guys producing 15-20 goals. So give me all the attitude you want I still think your wrong.

I don’t care what you remember, it isn’t what happened. If you want to propose a trade, don’t lead with a stupidly coy comment that is baseless to begin with.

Btw, Ottawa doesn’t need your locker room cancer, especially at $7MM per for five more seasons, lol, five seasons

Kane isn’t a cancer, he is well liked and popular here. He also is 28 so five more years finish his contract to 33 which is about the life expectancy of your prime years as a power forward Maybe that last year sucks but the other four are still going to produce and produce well. The end of the day this is 100% fantasy never gonna happen the only reason I was Tasing Kane was he is the most tradable asset we have with a large contract.
