I’d prefer a 2022 1st, but it’s a great deal for the Red Wings. I’d be fine with Erne going the other way too, or some sort of cheap guy for Tampa to use in a depth position

Not quite enough for Detroit to eat 9.5M in long term cap. Detroit could retain on Killorn and trade him for more assets but TB doesn't get a discount because of that since Wings would be doing them a huge favor to begin with and there is still risk associated with Killorn getting injured or played bad and not being tradeable in the future.

Hugo + 2021 1st + 2022 1st or TB can find someone else to solve their cap problems

Killorn isn't waiving his M NTC for Detroit. He can maneuver his M NTC so he can only be traded to good team, and almost all good teams can't take his cap without sending cap back to Tampa which defeats the purpose of trying him.

TB fans are still holding onto the, "these guys are assets" mentality. No team wants to waste cap on this. TJ alone is 2 1st round picks. Killorn you probably A. have to find the right team to move him to, and then B. will possibly cough up at least a 2nd to do it. If it's to a rebuilding team like Detroit, it probably costs a 1st to move that. DET doesn't need Kilorn, and it doesn't really benefit them to take him.
