Uh... you just traded out the starter and elevated Mike Smith to that role. What a sh*t show.

And, ironically, Edmonton does.

Oilers wouldn't trade Bouchard for that. Rangers would prefer Broberg as a little caveat as well.

Better defense? Maybe from an offensive standpoint but from a defensive standpoint its awful. Not to mention, that this team would be lottery team playing with a has-been and a rookie who’s played 10 games in Austria.

With how precious their next three years are with Laf & Shesty on ELCs I can't see the Rangers taking the Neal contract under most any circumstances tbh

For Kreider potentially given his bad contract

Interesting trade otherwise

So you start by trading away the starter? Come on, man. And Koskinen is much, much better than Smith. Koskinen was a top-6 starter last year, Smith was bottom-6. It's not close.

If you look at the numbers, Koskinen is definitely better than Smith. Koskinen is a legit starter in the league. Smith is a vet who is only in the league next season because Edmonton was desperate. Albeit, he is a serviceable backup, but not reliable my any means

I like the idea of trading away JJ, because he is not a very good player.

As for trading Bouchard, that is a huge mistake. They have spent the last several years properly developing him. He is under team control for a very long time, still on his ELC, and expansion draft exempt. He is one fo the last players you include in a deal to try and dump Neal. I get that you are getting Strome and Deangelo back, but they are both expensive players with short deals. Not to mention they both need to be exposed in the expansion draft. At this point, the Oilers are clearly committed to seeing Bouchards development through. Cap-wise, it i foolish to consider moving him.

On another note, it would be sweet to land Duclair. He'd pretty much be guaranteed ice time with either one of Draisaitl or McDavid. His contract demands at the moment are unknown though.

As a Jets fan I hope the Oilers trade Koskinen to leave Smith as starter with no experienced backup in place. Connor/ Schiefele/Laine are licking their chops!

I gave up hope here when I seen your paying to remove skinner I can’t begin to wrap my head around why? And that’s the smallest issue have with all this.
