I wish we signed better UFA's but tbh come deadline if our third line is struggling id like this deal for both sides, especially if habs are "meh"

I like this for Montreal. Might be a slight overpay for Pittsburgh, but I think it makes sense for both sides.

Like mhockey said, MTL accept only if they are meh

I don't think it takes a B- prospect and a 2nd round pick for a 3rd liner in Armia. Plus you've added in a player that's about equal to Armia in terms of value. Simplify it. You've far overpaid here

Armia is a middle six winger, excellent 3rd liner. Yes it cost a 2nd +, if he’s available a lot of teams will call with is low caphit

a 2nd? ... the same type of player that you just described (middle six winger, excellent 3rd liner, good cap hit) just got traded for a far less of a prospect.... Andreas Johnsson just got moved for Joey Anderson. Good luck asking for much more than that.

Toronto was also working from a position of weakness and moving cap when nobody wanted it. At the TD picks have an all time low value. This is fair value

Nobody wanted Andreas Johnsson with is 3.4M with terms
And Toronto had to trade him, we don’t

Johnsson has more value. He's far better offensively and still provides above league average defence. A $3.4M cap hit with term is not a bad deal for a 40-50 point player. Where as Armia is $2.6M for less than a full season. Johnsson has more value than Armia.

This is where you are wrong
Stepan 3C making 6.5M as more value than AJ
Get a grip, Johnsson was near negative value

There is a huge difference in trades in the offseason vs trades at the deadline. Players tend to go for way more at the trade deadline than the offseason. It’s a bit of an overpay by the pens but if the 3rd line stinks but the pens are still in a solid playoff position and the habs are bad then both teams would likely make this trade. Armia is a huge upgrade over Sceviour and Bjorkqvist likely won’t ever make the nhl. If he does, it’s likely as a depth player.
