Marner got it and Barzal is better

Hot take: Marner>Barzal. Marner gets so much unnecessary hate for simply being a Leaf and having a good, yet beyond selfish and obnoxious agent. Marner's playmaking abilities are extraordinary and he has the ability to have a 100 point pace this year whereas Barzal doesn't.
Bracing for impact and my impending doom.

I didn’t even wanna get into that cause people on this site seems to refuse to acknowledge it’s a competitive advantage

It’s an advantage but I think most people’s issue is when it gets treated as the be all end all.

Can’t tell you how many times I said about Florida taxes with people not waving I was told it didn’t mean s—t. Now it’s this overwhelming consideration

It is somewhat but I’ve also countered that the panthers attract no one. It helps when you have a good team/well run organization. Now if Tampa and another good team with a high tax margin give you the same offer then it could definitely be the decider.

I honestly don't put much weight in to what this NRD guy says. I mean it's in the name of his twitter page RUMORS. What he's stated is double talk so he claim he was right even though he was wrong. Barzal wants 10x8 (seriously who doesn't want that kind of money, so he's likely not wrong). Then he goes on to say but as the days go by the chances of that fades. I mean come on he claim he was right regardless of what the contact is.

If Barzal signs for 10 million, he's right. If Barzal signs a bridge for less money he's also right.

Rangers could dump Brendan Smith to get around 10 mil to offer sheet Barzal. Why wouldn't Guerin OS Lou's players? Their #1 center right now is Marcus Johansson

Because offer sheets make you a pariah in the GM society and good luck getting a fair trade. Every GM thinks me next time?

he was the first one to say the isles were getting pageau (even when staple said that its unlikely they'd give up a 1st rd pick) and he was the first one to report that Boychuk was going on LTIR.

Man I remember when people were saying that losing Lou was the biggest mistake for the leafs as he would have made Nylander sign immediately and not hold out for more money like what happened with Dubas. Those people now be hiding as look whats happening with Barzel. Oh hes gonna sign immediately on a team friendly deal and not hold out. Wrong if he was going to sign a bridge deal he would have done so months ago, by wanting 10mill it shows this kid wants money now just like Nylander did.

Hopefully it wont be a last minute signing like Nylander but all indications seem to suggest thats probs gonna happen and he potentially will get more than advertised.

I could care less if barzal gets 11 mill - he’s a franchise C and hes worth the investment. He will most likely be signed by the end of the week

I’d call him a number one c, don’t see him as a franchise player.

He’s an elite C that you can build your team around. I’d say that’s worthy of being labeled a franchise center. He’s the best transition player in the NHL, top 5 playmaker and some of the best puck skills in the league. Like I said he doesn’t put up as many points because of trotz system. In an offensive minded system he easily puts up 90-100 pts

I agree with you more or less. Except for one little thing.

I don't think you can say he's the best transitional player in the league when McKinnon or McDavid are easily the top two in that category. I'm sorry, it's not even debatable.

Mcdavid enters the offensive zone more than anyone in the league but he doesn’t exit the defensive zone nearly as much because of his lack of defensive effort, which is why he’s at 5. TBH if I’ve never looked at certain models I’d assume mackinnon and mcdavid are top 2 as well lol

I thought the Isles had as good of a chance to get Pageau as anyone else and 90% of Capfriendly kept putting Boychuk on LTIR even before he officially retired. They're doing it to Ladd right now. Mind you I never thought Boychuk would go on the LTIR at the time because he had played recently in the playoffs. I also never knew how bad his eye injury really was.

Is ladd supposed to go on LTIR? I’ve seen from random accounts on twitter that he’s supposed to fail his physical but not sure if it’s true.

This was one of his tweets a few weeks before boychuk LTIRetired . He clearly has connections.

I'm not sure about Ladd to be honest. I haven't heard anything about him going to LTIR and I was just watching a stream of Hockey Night in NY and apparently the Islanders haven't even released their official training camp roster yet like the rest of the league has done, Staple was on the program and suggested it could be because of a possible Barzal signing or there was a roster move/trade in the works, he wasn't sure though and was just speculating as to the reason.
