There isn’t a leafs fan on the planet that likes Tavares

That's very untrue. Me, for example, Tavares is possibly my favourite player. And a lot of leafs fans also like him. There are also a lot of leafs fans who say they "like him as a player", but don't think the leafs should have signed him, which is who you are talking about. There are a lot of those people lol.

I already explained. He's an offensive small d man who doesn't put up offense. So why not trade him for a big defensive defenseman who defends better.

To be honest, Dermott is better at defence than he is at offense. He's probably the most underrated member of the leafs too.

6' 205 pounds is a small offensive dman? This is like when that LeafsSeason guy chirps Vesey for being small and he's 6'3. Dermott is a two way defenceman who likes to muck it up after the whistle. He has the grit fans like you want but no one realizes it because he has a baby face. It's ridiculous

tears of joy Ya it cracks me up that theleafsseason think Vesey is a "shrimp" despite the fact he's 6'3". I agree, Dermott is the leafs grittiest defenceman outside of Muzzin and Bogosian.

"Tell me why the trades suck IDC". Well Stamkos has a NMC and is captain of the Stanley Cup Champs, and Tampa can't take the cap difference. Gee that was pretty obvious to any hockey fan.
Calgary ain't trading Tkachuk. I'm sure Flames can't wait to see Nylander return to this "home town"

This guy is obviously a fan of Brian Burke

Quoting: mondo
Because everything you said about him is incorrect. He's been fairly consistent and one of the better defensive contributors on the team (of course you'd have to look at those spooky analytics for that instead of hits and what Carselfie Aviatorglasses says on 590). He doesn't turnover the puck nearly enough to be a concern; you're trading him for someone who had more giveaways than he did. He's not that small either, he's definitely in the middle of NHL players in terms of height and weight.

His skillset is fine for Toronto, you just don't like how Toronto plays and we have to put up with this insufferable ACGMs every day from you and TheLeafsSeason.

No, But the Leafs have basically had the same success under Dubas as they have under Burke. 0 playoff series wins. The analytics snowflakes get so mad when someone disagrees with their opinions.

You're the one starting the baseless claims. "this guy likes burke". Because I don't like certain players I must have been a Burke fan? Grow up.

Nope. Wrong again. it's you need both. Can't win with just one. And the Leafs have tons of skill, have for 3 seasons now. Need some grit to go along with it. See Past cup champions Washington, St.Lous, Tampa. All teams had tons of skill AND tons of grit.

And they all win when their stars start enforcing their will. And it will be the same for the Leafs. Matthews manhandling everyone in his path and leading the way. Young players often need time to learn how to always play with a sense of urgency. It comes with time and our young core is no different. Moving out guys like Nylander and Marner and Dermott (who is very gritty) for slow, less talented meat heads is just dumb.

Disagree again. I'll use Tampa as an example. Brought in guys like Coleman, Bogosian, Luke Schenn, Goodrow, to replace faster younger more skilled guys they had in the lineup the year prior. And look how that turned out. Argue all you want. You can think my opinion is dumb but the proof is in the pudding. You know your argument is trash when you have to result to insulting the other person for having theirs.

Tampa added some bottom of the line players with some grit they kept all their top of the line skill guys. Which everyone seems to overlook. Who did they move out? Stamkos? Kucherov? Point? Cerelli? Nope kept all their skill guys but add some grit to the bottom and those skill guys learned to play with more urgency and grit.

Hits/60 leaders:
2020 playoffs: 1. Dallas. 2. Tampa. Both in cup final. Tampa wins.

There's some stats and analytics for you. Numbers don't lie right? And obviously because I have a stat to back up my theory it has to be true. Right? Get wrecked.

You're missing the point here. AGAIN. It's trading guys I don't like. Is swapping Tavares for Stamkos a downgrade in skill? No. Is swapping Nylander (307Gp - 221 points) for Tkatchuk (293 GP 235 points) a downgrade in skill? No. Tkatchuk has a better PPG than Nylander ffs. Is swapping Kadri for Kerfoot a downgrade in Skill? Not even close. Then the two D men I'm swapping are just personal preference on style of play I want from bottom pairing D men. The team is hardly losing any skill with these trades (if any) and gaining grit. I get it, you don't agree and you never will. Typical Leaf fan with the blinders on. Your way is the only way, clearly, it's working so good. I'm out. You can't be reasoned with. Good day

Cool story, but you are just following the Burke school of thought that everyone needs to hit everyone all the time. And ignoring everything else. Correlation does not mean causation
