Siegenthaler for Lemieux

Created by: Capitalfail67
Team: 2020-21 Washington Capitals
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 6, 2021
Published: Jan. 6, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
the Capitals don't really have room for him. Adding Chara removed his roster spot this season. Fehérváry and Alexeyev are better and should be NHL ready as early as next season. Capitals are deep at LHD so this seems like the obvious choice

That's an interesting thought. Lemieux brings something special that isn't on the scoresheets and I think they'd like to hold onto him. Imo they'd rather Julien Gauthier

i do agree with that but Siegenthaler is also a good player and he adds to a position of need for the Rangers. Siegenthaler is a really solid stay at home D man. Rangers are deep at wing capitals are deep at LSD makes sense to me.... Lemieux is stuck on the 4th line for the rangers due to depth i think?

Rangers rather keep Lemieux. We have tons of LHD that are coming up soon anyway.

Lemieux is a 4th line banger, that isn't even that good defensively. He is basically Hathaway, plus a smidge, maybe. They can have Kempny or Jensen, not Siegenthaler.

I like the idea in terms of fit, but that something special he brings is something WE also need

Hes also an absolutely elite penalty drawer, which is huge for a great PP team like us, also kempny is missing a ton of time

Who? im interested bc they recently signed JJ and they moved AD to the left side. Seems like an NHL ready youngish LHD is exactly what the Rangers would need instead of another winger.

Yeah some Ranger fans are extremely high on him and have slightly unrealistic expectations of their LHD pipeline. i think Siegenthaler has more value but capitals are loaded with LHD

i can respect that take on him. Im not saying Lemieux is bad i actually love his game. Main reason i would love to have him on the roster. Just seems like a win win for both teams. Rangers have Panarin Kreider and Lafrenière on the LSW. Seig could challenge for 1LD on this current roster imo of course

Miller is the only one that is even close to NHL ready.... that being said losing Lemieux for a massive upgrade to LHD seems like a high reward low risk move considering how deep they are at LSW

Doubt it now that Dlo is on the left and even disregarding that I doubt he beats out lindgren seeing as hes the perfect partner for fox, they're literally a modern day mcdonagh and girardi

Tarmo was talked about all summer as having a shot to make the team out of camp

taking out chemistry Siegenthaler is the better defensemen... even factoring chemistry in hes a top 4 in New York . Both players are in a spot where it hurts there development due to depth

Not really, lemieux wasn't much more than a 4th liner all of last season, brings a ton of energy but not a lot of offensive skill, maybe send sieg to a team who has a spare right handed wing for the 3rd line

my point being is he could potentially grow to be a much better player if he was given an opportunity in the top 9. Look at what Wilson did with the same opportunity. 5-6 minutes a game is hard to improve

Lemieux plays a style we like and I'm not gonna let people who don't watch the team appraise him. He's a 4th liner, yes. But he does things that apparently go unnoticed. Draws penalties, finishes his checks, chips in offensively, gets under the opponent skin, and does the little dirty work. Something we haven't had since Ryan Callahan and something we deem invaluable.

Defenseman who would trample Sieganthaler as early as THIS season:
- Nils Lundkvist
- Matthew Robertson
- K'Andre Miller
- Tarmo Reunanen

That's with Jacob Trouba, Ryan Lindgren, Tony DeAngelo, and Adam Fox already slotted in the NHL lineup.

Lindgren is the only NHL ready LHD Jacob Trouba,Tony DeAngelo, and Adam Fox are RHD. Common sense tells you Siegenthaler is a better option than every prospect you just listed lol. Miller might be NHL ready next year but from what i read he's inconsistent and might need another year. Lundkvist is a stud BUT AGAIN hes a RHD......

"I'm not gonna let people who don't watch the team appraise him" i agreed that he is a great player and adds a lot. i traded for him. you need to read comment and comprehend them. you are just arguing points we agree on lmfao

Not trying to argue at all bro. Just saying we don't need to move important components on our team for players who will be redundant after a few blinks. it's bad asset management. It's like WSH signing Erik Haula or a C to a big deal before McMicheal needs a spot when he's ready. Just preparing for those guys to step in is all.

like signing Chara instead of playing Siegenthaler, Fehérváry or Alexeyev.

off topic how i see the Rangers moving forward

Lindgren Fox
x Trouba
Miller Nils

i think DeAngelo gets traded. Nils is going to be a stud

Yeah for sure. Still think Trouba will be booted for Schneider in a few years and Robertson and Jones will make a big impact soon.
