Only way Lehtonen is moving up the lineup is if he gets comfortable playing the right side. He won't play above Rielly or Muzzin.

That'll probably not happen cuz, from what I saw on Saturday night, Mikko looked good with Bogosian and, he's still adjusting to the NHL game. I also don't think Keefe/Hakstal will force Lehtonen to learn the right side when, he already has to get used to the faster game and, smaller ice.

As much as, I hate to say this, I don't think Mikko "Finnish Bobby Orr" Lehtonen will overtake Muzzin and Rielly.

Absolutely no chance of this ever happening.

He is a decent puck moving lower pairing LHD. He will never be anything more than that in the NHL.

Happy to have him here but, some perspective is needed. All in all, he didn't look that great on the ice.

He won't even play in every game. There will be nights that he is a healthy scratch. Not so for both Rielly and Muzzin. They are absolute lineup locks when healthy.

His best chance of moving up the lineup is moving to RD (which he played in the KHL) to get into the top 4.

Lehtonen played a year on the right side in Sweden. Presumably 2018/19.

He did not play on the right side in the KHL and his coach there (Marjamaki) who also coached him Internationally over the years, says that he is better on the left side and despite playing him in the KHL with a LHD partner - Lepisto - always kept Lehtonen on his strong side and the latter on his off side.
