Hawks have no motivation to take on all that cap for four years. Avs are going for the Cup, they aren't going to weaken their team by trading an NHL Dman.
Although I think PLD might be overrated by some, that is an underwhelming offer by the Habs.

Yeah like Phillip Danault is signing a 1 year deal, Not he's going to want a long term deal close to $6 million per.

Then you lose another player for nothing? I think Sakic is trying manipulate the Seattle pick the best he can so they pick Graves, Compher or Donskoi. You lose one it’s not the end of the world and in the case of Graves by far the easiest to replace. Don’t get into the nonsense MIN and FLA did with VGK accept you are losing a guy and move on.

thats the idea. compher and donskoi now become the next best option and both are easily replaceable. avs clear almost 7m in cap and clear some term, while still recouping a 2nd and 3rd.

That’s not a bad idea but that would be dependent on guys like Jost, Bowers and Kaut taking a significant step forward. Though imo Seattle will be looking long and hard at Compher because of the anticipated depth of D man likely available in the XD.

jost, newhook, kaut, bowers, and nuke will fill most of the bottom six. hopefully the avs can find a way to keep calvert on a year or two year contract. there should be some cheap free agents kicking around next offseason too.

I don’t think they mess around with Newhook in the bottom 6 but I don’t disagree with the rest. Plus maybe a guy like Kovalenko can make the jump straight from the KHL, regardless Jost is one of the guys with the most to prove and gain this year, again.

yea kovalenko should be brought over whenever his contract is up. he should be ready to step in almost immediately. i'd start newhook a 3c or 4c next season so he's ready to step up when kadri's contract is up.

Maybe after the expansion draft IF Byram is ready and IF Seattle have taken Donskoi or Compher instead.
