IMO it's too much of a lateral move for either side to consider. Dubois ceiling is 70ish points which he has as of yet to hit. KK's ceiling is 70ish points as well which again he is as of yet to hit. We do not need to move additional assets just to shave 1-2 years off our timeline.

The difference is Dubois was a better player at 20yrs old than KK is rn... And Dubois has proven to be much more of a goal scorer than it looks like KK will ever be. The jury is still out on whether or not KK will be much more than a 2B-3rd line C. Dubois is clearly a 1 on an OK team and a #2 C on a SC contender.

Exactly, and you didnt even mention how the 2way game of Dubois is much stronger, even when he was 20. I agree about both players having a 70pts ceiling but Dubois is almost there already and have much more chances of reaching it than KK.

Agreed, PLD is a monster and KK is still filling out and finding his way. I do believe too tho that Jesperi has the "potential" to become a 15goals-55asts player, just that Dubois is most likely always going to be the better 2-way player. And that Montreal wld prefer a Francophone instead and needs a someone that cld put up 25goals-45asts more.

Yep, everything we've said is probably right, this is why this offer is a joke. Imagine you're CBJ and you're being offered KK to replace a 22 years old star player with 2 years of good terms who wants out, and the sweetner you get for taking the risk that KK become as good or close to your star player are a healthy scratch and a 31 years old bottom 6 player on a bad contract! AND YOU WANT A 4th BACK HAHA!

And that's without mentionning Kekkalainen is probably asking for Suzuki. If that is the demand, he's going to make it look like he's not that interested in KK even if its not true, so that you have to raise the price to convince him not having the player he wants.

Call me crazy, but I wld almost consider trading PLD for Suzuki 1 for 1. But yeah altho Kekkalainen may not have the upper hand, he's got all the time in the world to find the best deal for Dubois. Which this trade is nowhere near that.

I dont think its crazy to think about it because PLD is the best player right now between the two. The difference with KK IMO is that Suzuki is already close to be as good as PLD and he has a considerable chance to be better than him. For me, him and Romanov are the only two players in the entire organization you just cant trade.

I wldn't trade Petry either as his value to the team is far greater than what any team wld offer for an aging yet very effective offensive d-man. The habs Right side wld be terribly slow if Petry got moved.
