CBJ doesn't consider that, but ANA definitely should. The Ducks aren't close to contending right now, and likely won't be for the rest of Gibson's prime. He's very good, but goalies usually don't return this much in a trade. It gives the Ducks an extra couple 1sts, a good prospect, a bit more cap flexibility, and maybe they can get something for Ceci at the deadline. I'd jump on it if I were Bob Murray.

Thats why you arent a GM, none of those pieces will be high impact and Poulin is one of the most overrated prospects on this site. Nothing in that package makes moving Gibson even the slightest bit tempting

No need to be rude, Salzy. How can you say nothing from this return will be high impact, when the two biggest pieces you're receiving are unprotected 1st round picks? Do you have a crystal ball that tells you the Ducks would whiff on those picks? Poulin looks like he'll be at least a solid middle-six player - maybe more. Anaheim isn't a playoff team right now, and very likely won't be a contender in the next few years, with or without Gibson. I'm not sure why PIT would do this, but it's a very generous offer.

Why on earth would the pens make such a massive overpayment. John Gibson is really good yes, but he's coming off of two very down years AND he's barely even been above average in the playoffs. There could be a strong argument that Gibson isn't even a top 5 goalie in the league right now.
