Playoff Ready

Created by: krakowitz
Team: 2016-17 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 2, 2016
Published: Dec. 3, 2016
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
While it is a lot of moves, and not all of them are ones that the other teams would take, Adam Larsson was just traded for Taylor Hall. Nothing will be as ridiculous as that, so these offers would not be completely unreasonable.
Trades
1.
BUF
  1. Fleury, Marc-André
  2. 2017 2nd round pick (PIT)
  3. 2017 5th round pick (OTT)
Additional Details:
Sabres are getting a playoff-proven goaltender who isn't injured nearly as much as Lehner is. While goaltending isn't a huge need for them at the moment, I'm not completely sold on Lehner being the number one goalie as of right now.
PIT
  1. Franson, Cody
  2. Nilsson, Anders
  3. 2017 1st round pick (BUF)
Additional Details:
Pittsburgh would want another defenseman in a package for Fleury. They are also getting a solid backup for Matt Murray until Jarry is ready to come up from the AHL. A first round pick also helps add quality prospects to a relatively weak prospect pool.
2.
BUF
  1. Stone, Michael
Additional Details:
After trading Franson, another quality right-shot defenseman would be a very good thing for them to get if they want to show the NHL that they are for real.
ARI
  1. Baptiste, Nicholas
  2. 2017 2nd round pick (MIN)
  3. 2017 2nd round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
Arizona wants to get young players that can impact their team as soon as next season, not more prospects that will take time to develop.
3.
BUF
  1. Fowler, Cam
  2. Silfverberg, Jakob
Additional Details:
Fowler is a great option to play next to Ristolainen, and Silfverberg can add another dimension to the Sabres' offense. The move benefits both sides, and would ensure that both reach the playoffs.
ANA
  1. Gorges, Josh
  2. Kane, Evander
  3. 2017 3rd round pick (WSH)
  4. 2018 4th round pick (BUF)
Additional Details:
Anaheim needs some secondary scoring, and Evander Kane is a great guy to get the job done. They also take Gorges to ensure that they aren't leaving high quality forwards available in expansion.
4.
BUF
  1. 2017 3rd round pick (NYI)
Additional Details:
Even though the Sabres would be trading away their captain, it makes a lot of sense for them. It is clear that this team belongs to Eichel, O'Reilly, and Ristolainen, and Gionta is essentially the guy wearing the C because he was wearing it before everyone else got there. Also helps with their salary cap situation for the remainder of this season.
NYI
  1. Gionta, Brian
Additional Details:
Islanders get a winger with pretty good hands to play on the third line. They need as much wing help as they can get, so a trade like this makes sense for them.

That Ducks trade: The Ducks give up the 2 best players by far. Evander Kane "is a great guy for secondary scoring". Really.

Yeah really. He's not primary scoring. Given he shows the potential he had with Winnipeg, that'd be excellent secondary scoring.

The Ducks believe they are Cup contenders, they can't wait on Kane's Winnipeg potential. His four assists in twelve games might be closer to his new norm. And Gorges for Fowler (who might be the best Ducks Dman this year) Really.

i could only see that if the sabers retain and give up a 1st but even then the ducks are playoff contenders.

It would have to be Grant in place of McCormick. He's retired.

Kane rushed back after breaking his ribs, finally getting back to game shape, has 3 points in the last 3 games. You're really only good at pointing out obvious flaws (Ennis), but not a great judge of talent, so why dont you wait to call it on Kane.

Unless Bob Murray is completely wasted, then they make that deal otherwise not a chance.

Every team has poor players or at least overpaid for their production. But c'mon quit trying to pawn your scrubs on other teams. Judge of talent? It's easy to analyze when your trades are often so one sided for Sabres (when Kane, Gorges and Ennis are mentioned).
