I think Rust will pick up his play once Malkin gets things going. I'd look elsewhere for a dman, maybe from a team like Chicago or Detroit who are not going to be making a push anytime soon.

As for Roslovic, the Jets have no leverage in getting more from a team and I'd really like it if the Pens don't pursue this trade given how well the bottom pairings have gelled so far but knowing GMJR, he will make the trade anyways.

If a trade "has" to be done for Roslovic, I'd say ZAR and Lafferty and maybe a 4th with the Jets giving back a 6th or a 7th. I'm not comfortable in trading a prospect (even if our prospect pool is considered to be one of the weakest in the league) for somebody who hasn't necessarily proved himself capable in playing top minutes, let alone a 3rd line role.

He'd be third-line for us, barring any injuries. Point is, we don't need him. We have middle-six wingers and a cheap injury sub in Kaut. What we need is a 3C and this doesn't solve that problem.

I agree, Rust at $3.5m is good value and I'd be happy to have him as our 3RW.

However, he doesn't solve a need for us, and unless Donskoi is going in the other direction there would be a log-jam of RW's.

What we really need is the 3C version of Rust. Guys like Bonino / Jenner / Danault for example.
