Description
of course it's hard to speculate two years out, but this is my opinion of how this roster and rebuild could shape up. Trying to be 100% at realistic as possible (meaning i'm not trading Kane)

Toews Retires: I think him not being there for opening night was huge. idk what's going on him him but it's time to legitimitly think about him stepping away from the game

Kieth asks for a trade next offseason: Kieth has been pretty outspoken about not wanting to just be a mentor and wanting to win. I think Kane does really want to end his career here but Kieth might not be as bought in to the rebuild than kane is

Hawks protect 8 skaters instead of 7 F 3 D: This allows them to protect both zadorov and murphy and not have to make a trade. This leaves dehaan and nylander as our top guys exposed. I'll assume nylnader is taken, but I could see a sweetener being put in to make sure they take dehaan

Lankinen/Comesso is the long term future in net: maybe this is just me always liking lankinen since his performance in the WC's for finland, but I really want to see him succeed. Comesso has looked good in his 6 games so far this year, he might be ready to the backup role in 2 years

Colliton gets another extention in 2 years and Stan sticks around too: not that this is what I want to see happen, but I think if ownership is willing to have them be the guys guide us through a full rebuild, they will at least give them the courtesy to see this thing through

Seabrook will somehow not be on this team in 2 years: he's too much of a competitor to be in the press box most nights. He will eigther be traded, bought out, or retired. I'll put him on LTIR to indicate this, but there is plenty of cap to cover it if he was bought out or traded with retention

Hawks take best LD available in 2021 and some sort of forward 2022, hopefully RW because we have nothing behind Kane there right now other than maybe kurashev if he can play there long term

Something probably is done with the 15 mil in extra space, but for now i'll leave it to sign all the kids down the line. Zadorov could be traded down the line to make room for Vlasic (who has looked great so far this year, i'm very excited for him), and i'm not really sure what to do with Regula but I guess we'll see how he develops down the line. I signed riley smith to indicate some sort of RW free agent signing, but that could really be a number of players

Alot of people on here think Toews not being at the home opener automatically means retirement. Its hard for me to read these things because people want to dive into conspiracy theories before actually listening to Toews word for word.

"I will not be making any further comment at this time and ask everyone to please respect my privacy as I focus on my health and recovery." ~Toews

Sounds like Bowman is showing respect to the captain to me.

I also think Seabs will waive his NMC. Zero chance Seattle takes him.

makes sense. Would allow us to protect nylander and I guess dehaan gets taken?

As of today thats likely true, I would agree with you. Who knows what happens at the TDL. A Dman might even get traded.

very well could, but the point being made is that we don't have to trade one if we won't want to

What is the sense in Dylan Strome ? Is expendable? Or viewed as a core piece? Just asking from an Edmonton perspective as he would be a great fit at a 3C I'm EDM and has connections with McDavid. What would be the cost ? Thanks

Available, but expensive. .83ppg centerman for the Hawks that costs $3M for 1.5 years and still an RFA.

probably available for the right cost, although that availability could change if we were to lose Toews indefinetly

Would agree with @Wadejos123. How does EDM feel about Bouchard these days with Broberg and all? Just curious. Also, I'm very high on Holloway. He alone might do it for me, but he might be untouchable...IDK.

Bouchard is ready to play and he looks like a stud, elite puck moving and is the future power play QB. Don’t think he’s going anywhere. They are still high on Broberg, and I think him and Bouchard are the future of the oilers defence. If you’re implying a trade for either for strome, I don’t think the Oilers do that. But Ethan Bear, Dmitry Samarukov, and Caleb Jones could all be available and I would rank them in that order from most to least valuable.

Really would like to see Strome stand out. When you beat up on the wings you’d like to see a big year player like Strome to at least make some noise.
