You're a Canucks fan and this is your analysis of Virtanen and the trade you would do? My lord.

You could definitely get north of a 2nd round pick for him.

Then bench him, like Holland did with Jones, and Bear when they were playing awful.

You say this like Virtanen was ever as good as Bear or Jones.

Well.... they play at different positions, so it’s hard to compare, however that doesn’t give a right to trade him for scraps. He’s just having a rough start... I say bench him.

He was benched in the playoff’s and scratched for a few games. Didn’t help

If he was worth a 2nd he would have been traded in the offseason for sure

At that point if he doesn’t improve you may be A. Rushing him, or B. He needs a change of scenery.

Jack Roslovic = 3rd pick
Jake Virtanen = 3rd pick
Are they not comparable?

Holl is much better than Virtanen and Vesey is likely a better cost effective contract.

Nah he needs time. No need to rush. And if that doesn’t work, then trade him for a good return.

Roslovic is a better player than Virtanen. Also, no one said he was worth a 3rd. If anything, it seems like he was valued more than a 3rd, because Kekalainen said the deal wouldn’t have happened if Roslovic wasn’t included.

He’s 24. There’s not much room to grow. And if you’ve ever seen Virtanen play, you know he’s not going to be a full time NHLer for the rest of his career. He’s just overvalued by people because he was a 1st round pick that can sometimes score goals, just like Alex Galchenyuk. However, his attitude and defensive play aren’t even close to being good enough to play in the NHL.

Honestly it’s not even the attitude. The guy does put in work and obviously wants to be here and throws his hits and everything, but he’s so oblivious on the ice. Every game there’s a handful of dumb plays that are aggravating.

Dump and change in 3 on 3 ot, ignore open teammates when he has the puck, chase a hit and be out of position, standing in the slot in his own end with his stick at waist height.

The worst part is: he’s fast, big, has a wicked shot, and his hands are pretty decent. He’s also started taking the game much more seriously over the past year and a half. He could easily be a Josh Anderson level player if there was anything at all going on In between his ears.

Again VAN decline. They would much rather hold onto to Virtanen. They lack depth on right wing. Also they cannot afford to lose another top 9 forward. Leafs should hold onto Holl.

Bottom 6 RW is the most overcrowded position on the team. What do you mean they lack depth??

Besides Boeser and Pod. MacEwen is not a regular yet. Hog is a natural LW. Lind is yet to make any noise and Lockwood is another project.
