1st overall pick
2022 1st round pick
Josh Norris (AHL rookie of the year) currently leading our team in scoring at 21 years old, projects to be a 1C
Logan Brown - point per game in AHL at 21, 1C potential
Lassi Thomson - top 4 D potential 1st round pick, former U20 Captain of Finland

This is an overpayment lol

Not enough given up. You are gonna need to get rid of one of Chabot, Tkachuk, Stutsle, and Branderson but you need to add somebody else that has good potential onto that.

AHL rookie of the year means nothing. U are just claiming it is going to be #1 overall. That's not right. U are hyping up AHL players and they are down there for a reason. Some of those things means nothing. And Ottawa is rebuilding so I don't get the point

This is under the assumption Barkov is not resigning in Florida which diminishes his value with one season on contract left.

I'm saying IF we get 1st overall this year, this is the trade I would do.
Josh Norris literally leads Ottawa in points at 21 years old.
Well yeah prospects ofc are going to not be playing in the NHL.

Not if you're doing a sign and trade like you say in additional details.

Sign and trade only because the original team can give Barkov 8 years, while the acquiring team can give 7. So I imagine Barkov would elect to have the 8 years signed and traded, if he isn't going to resign in Florida. Regardless this is an excellent haul for Florida.

So if he's signing an 8 year extension before being traded, how does having 1 year left on his deal diminish his value?

I know that it is IF but we don't know yet. And when we will know Barkov is not eligable to trade for. You can't just assume a team will be bad and they'll get the first pick because of it. That's dumb

I'm not assuming anything lol I'm just creating a hypothetical scenario where Barkov wants out and the sens win 1st overall pick. It's not what I think will happen nor is it remotely likely to. However, given the scenario I've created for my own enjoyment this is the value I think is ideal. What is dumb about that. I'm doing it for fun not to flex my crystal ball jeez

The trade its self is really dumb because you can get one of them for this value but just remove a first rounder and what I'm saying is you are creating a scenario where they have the first overall pick. We don't know that at the deadline. We'll know that after the lottery. And at that time, Barkov is no longer tradeable for. Good job buddy.

I would try to avoid trading Norris away. He and Tkachuk are best friends. Just look at what happened when Hossa was traded away for Heatley and Chara left the next year. Huberdeau also doesn't fill a need. Barkov does. I would look at just acquiring him. Also trading this year's first round pick without protecting it is not wise when it's very defense heavy and the Sens need serious help on defense.

That's fair. If we could acquire Barkov without giving up Norris I would be all for it. just don't see it happening unless we include one of Tkachuk, Chabot, Stutzle, Norris, Batherson.

that isn't an overpay considering this draft is so bad, that there isn't even a consensus first overall. Brown and Norris do not even have close to 1c potential. Its an underpay
