DeAngelo to PIT

Created by: gmack95
Team: 2020-21 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 2, 2021
Published: Feb. 2, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I'm a Pens fan. The city of Pittsburgh put up with Antonio Brown and Le'veon Bell for several years. If the Pens were this desperate for dman, I would do this as long as Tony has a sit down with management and ownership and is told he is on a short leash. No social media at any means. His agent is same as Sid so Pat will have to be heavily involved in this negotiation as well with his behavior.

If we got him, Id do this lines of

POJ-Letang
Pettersson-Marino
Dumo-DeAngelo

Dumo could be the stay back to allow Deangelo to play his offensive game better.

This lineup is when everyone is healthy

I agree. However if Pens were able to put up with his off ice shenanigans, they would have quite the D-core. I'd rather have Deangelo over Weber or Czucman.

POJ played 26 minutes last night... he looked good but still it's his 6th NHL game ever, thats too many minutes.

They shouldn't have to put up with them. It's either he wants to be in the NHL and shut up and mature, or start learning russian. This should be a publicly known "last chance" and the pressure of it should keep him in line.

If the teams bite on this then hell yeah these are awesome deals but I think both will cost much more.

Also, Bennett wants a trade to play in top 6. I don`t think he would be too happy to be put in bottom 6 again.

He wants to play center, he is on wing right now.

I’d definitely do the Tony D deal, pens are desperate for D right now. But like some ranger fans have pointed out, it’s cheaper for them to buy him out then retain this much

Isn't buyout the next two-three years? It's a mess but I truly think if he shuts up, might be a solid pick up for anyone.

I think it’s only two years for under 1 million each season. Could be wrong though. That’s what a NYR fan told me. But yes I agree

Only problem is we don't have a GM right now. Alvin is a paper placeholder until we hire someone hopefully soon.

Its 1/3 since he's under 26 so 384K for 21/22 & 884K for 22/23. So retaining 50% for post 5th round picks doesn't make all that much sense & Gorton isn't looking to do TD any favors & also keep him in the
division.

The Bennet trade ask may have been misreported ....https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/flames-say-sam-bennett-not-formally-requested-trade-blindsided-report/

Players tend to be OK with 3rd center knowing they're behind SId and Geno... besides, he could move up toe #2 and put Geno on wing...

He surely would be 2C eventually because the pens are always injured. They wont move Malkin to wing for him, but could be put on Malkin's wing. He is like a Kunitz type which helped Malkin alot

But this isn’t really a situation he can clean up. I’m aware that we don’t know exactly what happened, but given his history, his past suspensions in other leagues, and the reactions from the rangers, i think we can take a really educated guess at the reason for the waive. Again, working with this assumption that i think is more of a highly educated estimation, i think it puts him into a category of tainted, wherein something that he did isn’t redeemable in both the court of public opinion and PR. I think an odd comparable here is voynov, and I don’t mean that in the sense of comparing the two players actions, not at all. What i do mean by it is it isn’t something you can really clean up. It wasn’t like voynov could go to another team, stop his off ice activities and everything would be fine. It was something he did, and became something that he was. I think it highly likely that the same is true of Deangelo. The statement isn’t “voynov was a domestic abuser,” the statement is, “voynov is a domestic abuser.” Thus, the league collectively viewed his talents as useless because of his character. Operating under my assumption that the rangers didn’t waive a talented player that they just signed, and say taht he would never play for their team again because of a little off ice scuffle with teammates (that happens with every team every season), his actions will always place him in the present tense category for the NHL.

Enjoy Russia.
