With a severely depleted lineup Bednar did what most coaches would do and went with the guy he knows rather than another rookie. Personally I would've liked to have seen Bowers, but it's understandable from Bednar's position.

Bowers will get his chance, and might just be better off getting an opportunity later in the season when he can be put in a situation where he can succeed and be a bit more insulated. Bednar deserves some leeway here given how well he's managed Makar, Girard, and Byram.
