Why does VGK do that Ottawa trade? I can see Detroit doing that if NJ finishes bottom 5.

Extra depth. Coburn is a capable seventh D-Man. And Galchenyuk can be great offensively at times. Really, that trade gives us a 7D and a player that can spark the offense if for some reason Vegas struggles to score in the playoffs.

1st, Carolina won’t be out. There are only 2 good teams in that division.

2nd, they will try like hell to re-sign him.

3rd, not enough.

This is really bad

Ottawa passes, if Galchenyuk is worth trading for, they can get a better offer than this, especially with retained money, and you're asking for retained money on two players, and shipping a healthy scratch depth players cap hit back, that they have to use a roster spot on the following season.

$525K retained for Galchenyuk
$850K retained on Coburn
$2MM salary for "healthy scratch" Holden
7th round draft pick

$3.375MM plus the salary for whichever player replaces Galchenyuk (if he's not in the lineup, he's not being traded for)

Is this a freaking joke? Bobby Ryan is easily worth a 2021 2nd round pick at $500,000, So we give Vegas back their 2021 3rd round pick for their 2022 5th round pick. And Detroit does this why?

You’re missing NJ’s second round pick which will be an early second rounder while VGK’s will be a late third.

I’d rather hold onto Holden as neither of those players should see the ice.
