What? Ryan O'Reilly was -23 his last year in Buffalo (the same year they picked 1st overall), gets traded to St. Louis and wins the Selke. He still has a negative +/- to this day. Does that mean he had defensive deficiencies and is not actually good defensively as well?

Nylander is not a bad player, but he is bad defensively having 60% offensive zone starts on average should be a pretty clear indicator of that.

Ah but yet again you completely forget that Nylander career has 56.5% offensive zone starts, Lindholm has 55.4% which is a lot closer than you try to make it seem like.

I've never said that Nylander is a great defensive player. But everyone thinking that Lindholm is because he finished 33rd in selke voting is hilarious 😂

I love when people use trophy votes like it means something, the guy who won the heart last year waant even the most valuable player on his own team.
Mitch marner and tyler bozak have gotten selke votes!

You see the problem with looking at career stats here is it includes how incredibly sheltered every rookie is. Nylander is getting 60% OZ starts on average over the last 3 years. He is extremely sheltered for a 24 year old.

People say Lindholm is really good defensively because he plays powerplay and penalty kill. He also has really good defensive stats
Im not the one bringing up Selke voting but Lindholm got 10th 2 years ago
