maybe change the 3rd in the byron trade to a 2nd. or add a better prospect.

danault isn't going to sign a 1 year deal.

this team would be screwed when it comes to signing suzuki next season.

That's an empty statement. You would have said the same thing about Taylor Hall. Truth is many players want a short deal to sign a bigger one once the covid instability will be passed.

    Not at all.

With Danault, Alzner and Chiarot/Kulak coming of the books, that's between 8.5M and 11M free for Suzuki (+5M) and Romanov (+3M).

hall is an exception. a rare one. danault will be signing a multi year deal. probably around pageau in term and salary.

would be foolish for the habs to bridge suzuki. he's the real deal just sign him longterm.

Well Danault could be an exception too. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Like Haula, Granlund, Nosek, Hoffman, Barrie, Kahun, Bertuzzi, Duclair, Etc.

Suzuki could be bridged or not, it's a matter of negociations between parties. There is Pros and Cons for both parties. I think the GM would prefer it, so they can resign Suzuki once Price and Weber retire. Over all, I don't think they are screwed.

Ok dude. If you say so. I didn't know you talked to Danault directly and he told you he want to sign in Minesota ASAP.

crazy to think he wouldn't sign that terrible offer. he already turned down almost the same money over a long term contract and you think he's going to sign a one year deal instead squinty smile

    he likely just wants out.

    5.5M for a guy with 5 asists in 12 games isn't a terrible offer.

I dont pretend to know what he wants, like you do repeatedly, but I do know that sometimes players are willing to take a bit less short term to hit the bank later. That's the scenario illustrated here. You obviously dont get that. We are done here.

it's a terrible offer when he's 27 and you're only offering a one year deal at almost the same money he allegedly turned down on a long term deal.

    5M AAV < 5.5M AAV

    A) 1x5.5M + 5x6.5M > B) 6x6M

If you accept it or not is called risk management.

I can't make my point more clear. It's ok if you dont get it. Please dont answer this, since you are not having a conversation, you are just spewing empty statements with a closed mind and diverting the narrative when I provide you facts based counter-arguments.

Hopefully this is just a single point of discord, or you are just having a bad day. Let's have a meaning full conversation some other time.

Any **** answer to this post will get you a nice spot on my ignore list.

    Have a good Superbowl. Bye

Well it is the new NHL. I'm guessing Hall was offered 8.5m X 7 pre Covid from Arizona and Hall turned to turn. Suddenly no offers came in higher than would he offered in February had Hall settled for 8m X ! year. Just for the money, maybe Denault would have been wise to take a 5m ( or more) X 6 deal earlier from the Habs.
Denault and the Habs just might have painted themselves in corner. Gotta think Denault leaves as UFA. My prediction no more than four years at 5.25m

danault is not hall. i think you're a little short on years and money but at least that prediction is somewhat reasonable.

Thank you for understanding the Hall comparison and the context change affecting negociation. I do THINK that Danault will leave too, I was just trying to set IMO the only scenario that COULD work for both parties, IF Danault want to risk it.

Some people just live in a black and white world. It's like talking to a rock.
