Travis Boyd is a AAAA player that showed a burst or two and the Leafs fan base are ready to extend him 6 years. He's not the better forward in the deal, Holl is the better d man by a significant margin and clearly I didn't factor that in well enough.

Fair enough I clearly value Boyd much less than people in Leaf Land do. Holl I think I justified in my own head because of of the opportunity they lose him in expansion.

You aren't telling the truth, No Leaf fans have ever thought of extending Boyd. Undoubtedly Boyd has outplayed Bennett this season. By this years performance how does Bennett replace Simmons?
Leafs have lots of players better, forwards, than Bennett and others who are just as good.
Leafs will likely lose one of Dermot or Holl in expansion since the Leafs will likely protect just three Dmen. (Reilly, Muzzin and Brodie) So if they traded Holl, they still lose another Dman in Dermot.
But the issue is still, what is this fascination for a 4th liner, sometimes 3rd liner Bennett and his two point in 10 games this season, so valuable to the Leafs?

Regarding his points this season he has been a healthy scratch one time in by far the most unjustified decision Geoff Ward has ever made and started at C this season then asked to move to the wing. He has been trending upwards the last three four games for sure. His game is similar to what the Leafs expected when signing Simmonds at the start of the year, guy who will drop the gloves and fly around in the playoffs. Personally I think he takes off in Toronto, Boston or Philly of all places.

I think Holl is getting protected, who just can't get his level of play for 2 million outside of an ELC. He's been terrific this season. Let them take Dermott or Kerfoot and it isn't doesn't matter which.

Yeah, but Pisani didnt become a man child and demand a trade because he wasnt getting the best icetime, he actually came down with medical issues after his playoff breakout, and then his career just petered out due to injuries

Boyd and Bennett are both 4th line players.... Boyd has way less cap. i think Boyd is the better player. mad the capitals let him go. Also i think Holl is the Leafs best Dman at the moment. Obviously MR is normally but thus far Holl has been the best

He's been one of the best defenceman in the North this season, it really can't be argued at this point.

Rielly has been deadly for the past 5 games or so.

And whoever Seattle takes is fine by me. If I were them I would take Dermott but either way I wouldn't be offering them anything convince one way or another.
