Yzerman wouldn't have signed Mantha to a 4-year extension if he wasn't going to be a core part of the team.

No it wouldn't, 1/2 of the league would be bidding on a player like Mantha. A bidding war only increases his value.

I'm pretty sure he is right. If you sign a player to a 4yr extension let him buy a house isn Detroit and then trade him in less than 6 months you can say goodbye to signing any decent free agents.

And I still feel that Mantha stays in Detroit. All I said was If Toronto wants Mantha they are going to have to give up Sandin or Lehtonen. Do they do that I doubt it! With that offense adding more fire power isn't what they need. Plus if they expect Detroit to retain that much salary it will probably take the first and Amirov just for Detroit to consider it. My comment was simply made to illustrate how bad that offer was. Not to be a jerk but he bought his house about 5 -6 months ago. If you are going to call me out you can at least get my quote right.
