Maybe Perunovich? Oh brother...

And yeah, documented by lazy, purely speculative, unsubstantiated clickbait nonsense. Meanwhile, I'm trying to figure out why anyone imagines that a team chasing another Cup trades a strong regular for picks. It's past time to realize you've formed a skewed view of this situation. Dunn isn't up for grabs. He's now partnering Parayko, in fact.

I never said it was a good idea for Blues to move him. I think they are dumb if they do. I think it’s insane. Yet...smoke.

If it was just random teams fanblogs...sure. It hasn’t been though.

In the end i don’t think they move him. But i never thought we’d be having this discussion to begin with. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I never said it was. I said it was lazy, purely speculative and unsubstantiated, all of which is quite correct.

You mean like TSN reporting Pens and Blues were close to a deal for Dunn right before Rutherford quit? Think they just made it up out of boredom?

You may not like it or want it to be true, does not mean it isn’t.

Might have had a low price tag to acquire but not to have on team. 4 more years at 6M means you would have been cap challenged this year to say nothing about when Carlo, McAvoy, etc. get their new deals. Signing him also would preclude one of Zboril, Lauzon from playing and developing this year. Sweeney did right by staying away.

Bruins’ cap space opens up pretty wide over the next two years. They could get it done. Schmidt or Dunn means Grizz can go.

If you are going to make a move do it to make your team better. Trading for Schmidt before the season or adding Dunn now but having to let Gryz go because of that move does not make you a better team. Don't throw money around just because you have it in the short term. Your logic would have the Bruins throw too much money at Krejci and Ritchie for the next two years just because "They could get it done". It's a big picture. You have to see all of it.

Schmidt is far better and his cap hit is not hideous. Bruins need to move on from these 5’9” & 170 lb D. Schmidt has size and physicality and plays a 200 foot game. He’s got decent speed. Grizz can go any time.
Dunn is the better choice cuz he’s younger but the Blues might not do it.

They have exactly one small defenceman playing.....

I'd rather have big D men as well but Gryz fills a role up and down the lineup at 3.7M. Schmidt is 6ft 194lb, not exactly a behemoth and not overly physical at that with a high of 35pts in a season. At 6M for the next 4 years after this one Sweeney was right not to go near him. Vancouver only got him because Vegas was desperate to dump salary and because Benning screwed up in not signing Tanev and Stecher who he could have signed for about the same he's paying Schmidt. I'm sure he'd like a do over on that one.

Schmidt does not play physical. Grizz had more hits last year than Schmidt did the previous 2 years combined. Schmidt also is not exactly a defensive wizard. Despite being LH he plays RD because he is a lot better there. He was not their answer. Far from it.

Schmidt’s biggest draw back — for Boston— is that he plays RD. Grizz might have more hits but how hard are those hits really??

I’m not sure Grizz is the answer long term.

Key word: playing. We lost to both St. Louis and TB because we had 3 out of 6 D that we’re 170 lb & 5’9”. Could not box out larger F and the opposition was able to do what they liked.

**We lost for other reasons as well.**

What we need is mobile D that play a 200 foot game and can handle the physicality. Without that we will have a really rough time winning a Cup.
Regular season success is not good enough.
