2021 DRAFT RANKINGS per position going downwards

Created by: FullSend
Team: 2020-21 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 14, 2021
Published: Feb. 14, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Weak weak draft, just top heavy and goes to show you that goalies and RHD will be coveted on draft day, Roman Schmidt and Sebastian Cossa are arguably a early second round caliber players. This year might be the best year to give up your picks rather than keep them.

Hughes or Power

When it’s all said done I feel like teams will prefer Hughes, with his size, skating ability and shiftiness that all the Hughes brothers have mixed with his two way ability

Well being a wings fan im sure we'll get 3rd oa and miss them both and settle for edvinsson or beniers. I think I want Hughes though, we need a high end offensive pp guy.

I’d love for the Oilers to get Chibrikov.

Beniers isn’t a bad pick but there’s a lot of comparisons in terms of skill set between him and Larkin. I don’t know if having two Larkins at 1 and 2 is a bad thing or not But I think a Hughes-Seider mobile pairing or a Power-Seider brickwall pairing is somethin to drool over.

In all honesty I think our prospect pool is solid so I wouldn’t mind trading the pick for help or especially if a goalie market opens up. BUT if we had a chance to select Wallstedt, Lysell, Ceulemans or Chibrikov I’d ponder on it.. even Lambos. In him I see a lot of what I saw in Chabot on draft day in him an untapped top 4 dman who just needed to take his game one level higher to unlock his elite ability. He’s rated near the same spot, We don’t have a #1 D so I’d be interested there as well.

If I’m Detroit , I’m absolutely taking one of Edvinsson, Hughes, Power. If I’m Ottawa, I’m taking one of Clarke, Beniers, Johnson, Guenther

Who are your 3rd and 4th goalies that you have ranked?

I added some goalies, Lennox is currently playing with the AHL Marlies right now but he’s an 18 year old and eligible for this year he should be a 2nd-3rd rounder. Depending on if he plays in the AHL and does well he could push early 2nd and knock Cossa. The two Russian goalies I’ve listed could be Shesterkin/Sorokin type of goalies in the future, this draft holds a bunch of MHL/VHL studs which hold a great pedigree for goalies

Ben Gaudreau is another name to look out for as he had an .890 Save Percentage with the Sarnia Sting in his 16 year old season.

There’s no way of knowing how much he’s improved without him playing a game, if he’s not playing anywhere this season I’ll be surprised if he’s drafted this year in all honesty.

The thing about this draft, though, is that it's all over the place in terms of player rankings. I think there'll be teams all throughout the 1st round that will be licking their chops as players they like fall to them.
