Habs fans - "Suzuki is going to be elite!"

Also Habs fans - "Hes going to sign for less than 6 million with term because he isn't elite"

    Hilarious

Why would suzuki do that? He’s been getting better every year, and will just sign a super cheap deal?

Out of curiosity, why do you think that?

What do you think Martin Necas will sign for in Carolina?

Look at any other bridge deals...McAvoy, Sergachev, Laine, Point etc...all 4M++

Now, if he plays 3rd line mins and does ok, then yah, I agree with it...but it seems like MTL fans think he is gonna take over the #1 LD spot soon and so he wont want only a small contract

I’m interested to see what he will get. I think what he gets will be a comparable for Miller when he’s ready to resign with us.

Which 10.2(c) contracts did you look at?

“It seems like MTL fans think...” Is your point that the opinions of a fan base are a monolith?

Unless its a high and long term contract, these two guys wont sign before their contract is up as they are still trying to improve/show others what they can do.

Marino signs long term a year before FA, Bear signs after but its low as he isn't a top guy, McAvoy signs high for a bridge as he has shown himself...basically three different ways to sign young guys

Not a canes fan but from what I see, he’ll get a bridge. Maybe 4 per year over two years

I would imagine that RFAs who believe that they will get paid similar to how RFAs used to get paid in a rising cap environment will soon be greatly disappointed.

    Time will tell.

That’s what Danault’s agents thought also. Oops.

    1) Who’s the highest paid zero goal scorer in the league right now?
    2) Which team do you think is going to offer him what he turned down in September? I doubt they’re going to be very good.

Is Suzuki arbitraton eligible? If not, I could see Bergevin signing him to a two year bridge deal at less than 5 per. Romanov's contract would be tougher to gauge, though I assume he too would get bridged (unless Bergevin can get him under a long term contract, ala Gallagher). But what do I know, or any of us for that matter. smile

Considering the impact that the pandemic has had on contracts, I too am curious to see what transpires.

Suzuki won’t be arbitration eligible until 1 year beyond his ELC expiring. I think Bergevin tries to hammer out a long term deal with Suzuki first. But if that doesn’t work, he moves on to the other two next. I think it would be in Suzuki’s interest to sign first. Have the team know that they’re building around you.

which he followed up with a 60 point season.

suzuki is on pace for .8ppg. if he keeps that up for this season and next while playing 1c in montreal he's going to get paid.

Barzal, nor any of the other players you mentioned, is not a particularly good comp.
