Pittsburgh traded a 2nd rounder to move Fleury in the expansion draft, and that was just for 1 year of a guy coming off a mediocre season.

This is the 3rd consecutive year of Jones being a sieve...IMO it takes a lot more than that to get Seattle to take one of your horrible contracts of your hands. Much likelier that he gets bought out.

2 yrs ago Lebanc, yes! Last year Labanc, no. This year Lebanc, no IMO. The 2nd without Merkley (maybe a player like a Seney or similar) but KL cooled off.

PHI and NSH trades are massive undersells and the Labanc trade isn't great either. Also Seattle ain't taking Jones for that.

Jones is actually not a bad goalie.. he’s had two mediocre seasons but he gets ZERO help from his D in front of him. I watch him day in and day out make incredible saves and keep the Sharks in games 24/7. If he was on any other team with structured D first mentality he would be a .915 % guy under 2.00GPG

I mean, maybe he'd be better behind a more defensively sound team, but saying he'd have a GAA under 2 is comical.

I think you’d reevaluate that come trade deadline and post season. Having a guy like Kane (power forward) pays off big time in the playoffs. Depth is key and for a 4th rounder and 2M off his cap hit that is a steal. You’d be a horrible GM bud.

Maybe an Undersell for Labanc 2 years ago but now with his almost 5M contract and under 35 point seasons he’s not worth much more than what I’m suggesting. Although DW has fleeced some teams in the past when it came to trades. Idk if this can be one of those times. Either way I think Sharks best move is to ditch him. He’s the worst skater on the team and really just a PP specialist guy. They need to work on D first. If you keep 2 goals or under in your net night in and night out you’ve increased your chances by 70% to win games. Look at Tampa and Islanders.

Okay maybe I over exaggerated there but around 2 GGA. He’s looked like complete crap the last two years because he’s got two of the worst D minded defensemen in the league.. Karlsson and Burns. Sharks would be better off just skating them as forwards.

No disagreements from me here. You have it spot on. I still think Labanc is a good player but this is all correct. I would love to go in a more defensive direction for sure as well.

Ehhhhh I agree with the sentiment as he has been falling off but his point totals this season really don't tell the full tale. He's still a very solid driver of play. Even accounting for the fact that it was an overpay, if Kapanen can haul a solid prospect and a top-15 pick in a solid draft, I reckon Labanc could undoubtedly pull a late 1st if not more. The Sharks' best move is to move him if they're getting a solid return

It's not that I don't think Kane is a good player, but PHI just isn't a good fit for him. He's got essentially the same contract as JVR, but for more years. Also, wasn't there a falling out in Buffalo for something he did? Most importantly, PHI has to resign guys like Hart, Sanheim, Patrick, Couturier, and Giroux in the coming years. Taking on Kane's contract would boot one of those guys out, and I wouldn't want to.

Again, not saying it's a bad deal, just not a good fit.

True, makes sense. I guess especially considering PHI needs space to sign their young guys. I guess if Kane only had a year or two left it would be a better fit
