I could be very happy with this team for the future.

    I'd prolly swap:

Cale Fleury or Mete in there for Harris (but definitely high hopes for him)
Caufield and Toffoli positions....not sure how well Caufield plays the off-wing

    Contracts:
    - I'd take all those contracts in a heartbeat....But I think all four will want more (i guess thats why you called it MAGIC BERGVIN)
    --- Danault & Tatar ~ $5m range
    --- Armia & Lehks -- $2.5-$3m range
------ but hey, Toffoli signed for noticeably lower than I expected, so maybe they all wanna stay.
Hate to see Byron go.....might be a cap casualty

--- KK will be interesting, prolly a bridge deal (maybe even only 2years)

I guess you could front end load the Tatar deal with bonuses so it’s easy to move out when Suzuki needs a new deal.
The Lehkonen and Armia numbers look low to me, but it’s pretty tough to predict how things will look for the middle tier in the off-season. Who would have predicted that Toffoli could be signed for a $4.25mm cap hit?

I envision Caufield being most effective at LW also. Especially on the powerplay. 100th percentile elite shot.

I’d agree with Fleury to start on the bottom pair (won’t be waivers exempt anymore, unlike Harris).

WIth 1.4M retention OTT accepts that trade.

Otherwise, it costs more to dump 10M over 3 years

Yeah I agree with you. I tried to make all the contracts the lowest possible so it works and I ended up with 3M$ in cap so there is place for money raises on some contracts.
And yeah for Byron its sad but without giving him up, keeping everyone would be almost impossible. Maybe move Kulak instead of Byron or trade both together since Kulak has a decent value.
And for sure Fleury woud be nice to see in the lineup but Harris seems NHL ready and I would love to see him play.

Yeah I agree. Mtl won't trade Byron if they have to retain tho. So maybe give up a 3rd AND a 4th with Byron

    Yeah exactly.
Thats why I've signed Danault and Tatar to similar deals as Toffoli cause I think Bergevin will use that contract as an argument. He will use it even more if Toffoli continues to play that well.
And for Lehkonen and Armia, it will really depend on if they want to stay in Mtl or not.

In the off season Byron will have $6.8mm left over 2 years for a player who’s probable worth 2x$2.5mm for a team looking for a quality veteran winger who can play up and down the lineup and be a leader for young forwards.

I’d guess that the $1.8mm overpay would cost a 3rd or max a 2nd to offload. I still think Seattle will be a decent fit though, and we can overpay them to steer them in the direction we prefer (not Edmundson/Chiarot/Allen). Kulak, Mete, Byron, 2nd and a 3rd would be a decent haul for Seattle, and would create the cap space we need.

If I’m Bergevin, I’d rather have both Armia and Lehkonen at ~ $5.5mm combined rather than Danault at $5mm. If he signs the Finns for less than that, then he truly is the magic man.

yeah it would be insane to keep both AND under 5M$ combined
