Leave Kerfoot on 2nd line wing, get Stall to firm up the 3C and out of respect for Marleau trade any player for same salary to give him that chance at cup.. Just my thoughts.

Respect for Marleau would be leaving him in a place where he'll play the games he needs to pass Messier and Howe. That isn't Toronto.

As he is a UFA after this year and can resign with them.. they get Eng and a pick for the playoffs at which they won't be in.. Um.. why wouldn't they.

Because they can get way more!! I mean you just defined every rental player. Have you never been around for a trade deadline?

Staal is a little washed. If they are out of it at the TDL they probably would only want a 3rd round pick. They have no use for Engvall.

At a bare minimum, for Staal with 50% retention, you are looking at a 2nd and Engvall. That’s a pick in the 50s at best and a 4th liner. I would expect Buffalo to want more however barring Staal being effectively a “vet presence” acquisition.
