Idk Mika personally and how he would feel, but realistically he can go there for 1 year and bounce if he doesn’t like it. BUF theoretically would be getting there new 1C if they lock him up or they cash him in at next deadline for more futures. He’s an asset.

If Eichel is traded it's a summer trade so the only way I would take Zib is if it's a sign and trade. He agrees to the trade and signs an extension. Eichel has to much term to gamble on a one and done replacement as part of the trade

This scenario would be a summer deal, yes. I don’t think think it needs to be a sign and trade but it is possible. If Mika gets back to form and Sabres can’t resign him they can cash him in for a haul of prospects. Trading Eichel essentially is the start of a retool or rebuild anyway.

Then the Sabres put themselves exactly were they were after trading ROR, I don't think the Sabres want to take that gamble, I would want a sure thing if it's a vet ( Zibs is fine if he had term) or an "A" center prospect. Eichel's a top 10 center, maybe in the 6-10 range maybe higher if he played on a good team
