LOL - If that is the case their standing's position is fully explained.

That has absolutely nothing to do with what I posted. I fully expect that other pieces would be needed. But in a cap world these cut 'n dry deals are long gone. The Leafs can't just add Gibson's salary without shipping some out, show me a buyer team that can. Nylander is the logical choice as his salary is close to the dollars going out. Now Toronto can add picks/prospects that have no bearing on the cap. Anaheim can get a third team involved to sweeten the picks/prospects and Nylander might never wear a Ducks jersey. But these seller teams better expect to take so salary back.

On a side note, I wouldn't make that deal at all. I'd much rather see if Campbell can step up. With Toronto's offense, and skewed cap to offense, we don't need the third-best goalie in the league. We need above-average goaltending, not game-stealing night in, night out.

Says none of the stats. By save %, hes 22nd in the league(8+ starts) with a .908. xGSA, save % measured by shot location, puts him at 27th in the league and a bit below average so far this season. His last couple of years havn't been great either. He's basically Price. All reputation without the recent results.

We wouldn't be trading Gibson for a Nylander and some draft picks, no matter how many or how high, because all that does is shift a huge gaping hole from RW to G. The right package would be a top-level RW and A prospect RD or vice versa, a very good goalie prospect, and maybe a little more. You don't really have the second and third elements.

Now do for the last 3 seasons even though GSAA is largely a trash stat.

DMRDNyv.png

Got to scroll down to 30th to find Gibson. Now keep in mind that GSAA isn't a relative stat, it doesn't take how many games played into account. Gibson is 4th on games played during that time frame. Yikes. I rest my case. Its all reputation from what he did years ago, not what he is now. You are suffering from the same thing Price fans have been going through the last couple of seasons.

The Leafs are not helping a division rival until we get a #1 legitimate starter, and you pay a premium for Freddie
