Id be willing to pay that to unload Neal for sure. There's a chance it takes less but hopefully it happens somehow. We could afford a #1 goalie, a 3C, a top 6 forward and an upgrade on defense this summer

Can afford 3/4 of those things probably not defence.

There's a surprising amount of money available this summer if Neal is dumped. On defence, Larsson takes a pay cut, Barrie walks, Russell's contract is 2.75mill cheaper. Thats around $7-8mill in cap space. You have to spend a certain amount on defence if you want a competitive team. We'd look silly spending $15mill on our entire defence. Easily $5-7mill left over for a defenceman although there's barely anyone worth spending on in free agency

im penciling in 6 million for a Goalie. 3.75 for larsson 7 million for nuge and 4.5-5 Million for a scoring LW such as Tomas Tatar or mike Hoffman. That's 21.75 Million. If there is a million or two left you keep that to help resign nurse.

Oh yea actually your right, assuming Klef returns there's not much room. Klef returning could be considered an upgrade on defence. The left side will be great, the right side might be a bit weak on paper. Bouch and Bear could thrive with the extra ice time though. Still a lot of potential with upgrades upfront and in net, hopefully Holland makes the right moves

I'm hoping he can land somebody like driedger for 3.5x3 and then somebody like Kuemper the following year. The goalies that are actually going to hit free agency don't seem that good to me there are more high end guys next year.

IMO Edmonton shouldn't do any of those trades. None of them are necessary.

Yea, I'm starting to think a 1A, 1B setup is the better option. Gives us 2 solid goalies and odds are one of them is on a heater going into the playoffs. Driedger would be a solid signing and saves money for elsewhere in the lineup. If Driedger is ready to be a #1 goalie once Koski's deal ends then his contract will look like a bargain and we save extra to spend on Nurse. Pulju and Bear

The Neal trade isn't necessary but would save a lot of time. His deal is weighing us down till 2022-23. There's a lot that can be done with that cap space

My figuring is they buyout the final year of his deal.
