I think JVR for Barrier is more realistic.

avs turn that down 100 times out of 100, this is pretty bad. EJ has a NMC, so he probably wont be waiving it to go to TO.
And Avs dont need to protect their fwds, outside of Mack, Dutch, Landy, Grigs/Soderberg there is no one left to really protect so who cares about Colborne and Comeau so they would go 8 skaters (4 fwds 4 D)

In terms of value for Erik Johnson, yes this is bad. But, if the Avs want to go with 7 forwards in the exp.draft, they are going to have to trade one Dman, and that one Dman that would be expendable is Johnson. Any team that is trading with them is not going to be giving them full value because then Colorado is still going to have to protect those players in return unless it's prospects and/or picks.

they wont go 7 fwds. Comeau Colborne or Soderberg arent that important. They want roster spots to open up to allow for Compher, Greer, and Jost to be on the team next year.

EJ has a NMC who just signed long term with the Avs last offseason, he isnt going to waive it. They either find a way to get rid of Beauch or they trade Barrie, not EJ, if they decided they wanted to go 7 fwds for some dumb reason. Plus chances are they are going to do whatever they can to make Beauch waive his NMC for the draft. He has been so bad this year that there is no way they pick him, so no risk of him being drafted. But if he doesnt they go 8 skaters

Probably the only two NHLers in the trade are Valiev and the second round pick. The Leafs would have no interest in Johnson and his 6m till 2023. Leafs could spend that 6m much wiser on a UFA or their own players.
Leafs can make a better deal elsewhere easily.
