Do the Caps have deadline needs

Defense:

IMO, the Caps defensive group is solid, and there's depth in case of injury. The pairings have been playing well so far this season, so I can't imagine there being an upgrade that makes a lot of sense. Caps have Siegenthaler, TvR, and Fehervary waiting in the wings in case of injury or drop in performance. Basically, no moves necessary.

Forwards:

The only area where I could see adding is more scoring on the third line. Oshie and Eller are fine, but Panik isn't really a goal scorer, more of a possession/defensive forward. The Caps would have to move out a contract in any move to grab a third liner, and I think Sprong could be deployed on the third line if the Caps are having goal scoring issues.

Goaltending:

This is probably the only area where I could see the Caps exploring options. This really depends on how Samsonov performs in future games. Anderson is pretty old, but won his only start of the season. The Caps would likely have to move a contract to a team that's willing to part with a pending UFA goaltender with salary retention added. Hagelin is the likely choice here, since he has a relatively high cap hit for essentially being a PK specialist and a fourth liner. I think Jonathan Bernier could be an interesting pickup, but that would mean sending Vanecek or Samsonov to the taxi squad.

I think they'll pick up a cheap depth center. Whatever they can get for a 6th or 7th, maybe, just in case of injuries. Detroit is offering Gagner or Glendening. Columbus might let Grigorenko go. NJ fans think they'll trade a young center for a young defenseman but they don't agree on who would be available.

ithink they are fine. due to lack of accurate scouting this draft is going to be full of late round gems....i would love to keep picks and see what happens. Adding Vet goalie might be the only thing i could think of but how many teams actually have an upgrade over V V right now that would willing to part with?

I can agree with that. You could potentially use McMichael to fill in for injuries, but a veteran would certainly be useful.

The only one that I can really think of is Bernier. He's performing well behind a rebuilding Red Wings team (doing better than Greiss atm). The problem there is you're essentially relegating VV or Samsonov to the taxi squad, which might not be the best in terms of future asset management. My take on this roster is that it's probably the most "complete" roster this team has had in a while. 2015-16 and 2016-17 was loaded, but I think this might be the most well-rounded defensive corps this team has had in a while.

i agree. Seigs and Fehervary are considered 7th and 8th dmen thats extremely deep. i think MF is better than Dillon
