Tatar's a pending UFA playing ok but not any better then Lehkonen would in the same minutes.

I'd rather have Lehkonen-Danault-Gallagher develop chemistry as going forward Lehkonen-Gallagher is likely going to be our middle 6 winger combo playing opposite of Drouin-Armia.

Toffoli-Suzuki-Anderson seems like the first solid top line we've had in a decade with them all being either signed or their rights being owned by MTL for atleast another 3 years. That's the money line making it plausible to move Tatar out now.

Lehkonen-Danault-Gallagher is a solid 2nd line with players predominately used 5v5 and PK keeping them fresh at a 16-17 minutes a game so they're hard on the forecheck.

Drouin-Kotkanemi-Armia is where they are based on inconsistency. If they can find chemistry together they could push Danaults line down but its far more likely they'll get their minutes on special teams primarily.

Byron-Evans-Perry is a pretty sweet checking line on bottom line. Perry will get his minutes on PP where he's been a great net front presence giving MTL 3 options this year instead of just Gallagher like years past.

I like our D as it is with the exception of Swapping Romanov and Chairot.


In the end Tatar just isnt getting the minutes justified to keep him while also hinder Lehkonen and Perry's ice time as well. Tatar goes those two get to thrive while MTL also gets a capable 4th line Center /13th forward to help us down the line for a playoff run (he's 6'3 205lbs built for a playoff)
