I think that's an overpay, Foegele and a 2 would probably get it done, Hall ain't what he used to be

CAR won’t pay a 1st for a rental, especially not Hall.

I think he would become a PPG player on the Canes. The Sabres are just bad.

Keep in mind this is a late 1st in what's supposed to be a weak draft.

You could just keep Gardiner, Sabres dont need him or his cap hit

We saw it last year here in Jersey- he's not the same post knee surgery. Still a productive player but not one i would give up a first rounder for, weak draft or not.

He was still producing significantly better in NJ and Arizona than Buffalo though. Even post knee surgery.

Indeed he was. I believe he had 53-ish points in 65 games last year, so pretty solid. But pre injury he won a Hart trophy and then had 37 pts in 32 games for the devs. Tough to see him struggle, he carried us to the playoffs in 2018, had a lot of fun going to those games so I want to see him get healthy and succeed.

Gardiner has been very very good in Carolina. I don't understand why the public perseption is he's been bad. He was 2nd to only Dougie in chances created from the blueline, and 4th on the blue line in chances given up last year. This season, he's 3rd in both. He's been very good and still is a functioning top 4 D man.
