interesting trade i think NYR accept only if chytil is ready for 2c(which it looks like he is) and they pick up a center in FA (maby danault) or this is can be done at the deadline

If Hayton comes good that’s would be a hell of a deal for the Rangers but so far his development has been slow

agreed i dont know why i forgot he was a center he would be given a nice chance with kreider and kravtsov on his wings to develop

Hayton would be the replacement, he was a top 5 pick literally 2 years ago

I think Hagelin is still a good checking wing and PK specialist. He's leading the Caps in SHTOI, even ahead of Jensen. Some team probably pays a 7th for him, if WSH needs cap space to sign Ovechkin, which I fully agree they probably will. But with new owners in Arizona rumored to be a little bit budget-conscious, I wouldn't be surprised to see a couple of AHL contracts going back to WSH in a Hagelin deal, to keep the money pretty even.

But the whole theory behind drafting Hayton is that he would be one of their two top-6 centers. Why should they give up on him now and spend a significant asset in doing so?

Arizona's top 6 of Keller-Schmaltz-Kessel and Dvorak-Hayton-Garland looks pretty good to me, so I don't agree with your premise that "They need one more top 6 forward."

Hayton has not looked anywhere near a top 6 forward. Players drafted that high usually show up in the NHL by now. He’s barely played in the league. Strome already is a top 6 forward and he’s be the best centre on the team

I don’t see how the islanders take on goligoski with their cap situation is Arizona retaining salary or taking back a bad contract like Leo komorov?

If I’m Arizona I wouldn’t give up on hayton yet he’s only 20 some guys take longer to develop

Fair AZ would have to retain. He’s be a rental wherever he’s traded
