What three defensemen do you protect in the expansion draft (Bear, Nurse, Klefbom)? If you don’t protect Jones, then what incentive is there to take on Neal?

I cant remember what all happened in the Vegas expansion, but could it be "we will not protect Jones, but you have to take Neal"?

Weird how you scrolled down to Detroit to assume the role of Seattle when you could've just used Anaheim the first team listed

I wouldnt trade Archibald for maroon he's too important to the bottom 6.

Some people have said that Seattle might need somebody like neal to get to the cap floor. Hes a fairly short term bit of cap hit.

Maroon would totally go to edmonton if Tampa said they didnt want him anymore. I can't see tampa trading him though because whichever team he plays for wins the cup.

McPhee arranged deals prior to the deadline of submitting the protection lists. He also included in those deals that those teams can’t trade with others to help protect players so he forced some teams hands. Jones doesn’t hold too much value as multiple teams will expose defensemen of his caliber. My question is what three defensemen does Edmonton protect? If Jones isn’t included in those three then where’s the incentive for taking on Neal’s contract? Multiple teams (eg Tampa) are going to be paying to shed cap so Seattle should hit the cap floor.


But then it gets back to my point of what’s the incentive? They can have Jones or someone of his caliber will be exposed on multiple teams. How much are you going to compensate them for taking Neal?
