Description

Some trades just make too much sense. We saw Stanley going to the jets over the summer on this site a lot, and then it happened. We saw Roslovic being moved to Columbus a lot, and it happened. We saw a lot, I mean a lot of laine for dubios trades, it happened. Now we see a lot of ekholm and saved trades to the jets, and I’m almost certain at least one, if not both, will happen. Per Pierre Lebrun, the press have expressed interest in Sami niku and the jets have probably asked about ekholm (second part is speculation but it’s reasonably a good guess). The jets had Scouts and AGM Larry Simmons at the Columbus game and unless the jets are looking to bring laine back, they are likely there for a defensemen too (probably savard for expansion draft considerations). Therefore, here ya go. I’m starting to think chevy frequents this site 🤔 🧐 🤨

Oh and has anyone else noticed how chevy has been oddly active for the past year? I like it, he’s good at making trades and he should make just as many as we need. If chevy can land both of these guys, he should load up big time at the tdl in a month. Like fill any holes, get a 3rd liner rw and a middle 6 forward to round it out.

Honestly, I have the same feeling about the ekholm trade as I did the PLD for laine trade before it happened. It just seems like too good to be true, but sometimes in this sport that’s usually a sign it could happen, in hockey too good to be true is a good thing, as it means it’s a good trade. So I’m hoping that we actually do see a Niku + Harkins + 1st for ekholm as that would strengthen the d a lot. As for scouts in CBJ, it would be likely it’s about Savard. Not just for like strengthening the dcore, but to bring some familiarity for Dubois to try and get him more comfortable long term.

Was always hoping they'd bring Kraskovsky over, big center, remember he did pretty good at some tournament.

Couple questions, why would the Jets need a 3rd line RW and if they acquired one wouldn't that pretty much be acquiring a mid six forward?.. Lol

I really think Chevy has to go for it this year. No guarantee Stastny, Lowry, Perreault, Forbort, and whoever we lose to Seattle in expansion will return to the Jets next year. This will open up spots for Samberg, Heinola, Perfetti, Gustafsson, Vesalainen, Stanley, and maybe Chisholm. Getting Ekholm and a top 4 UFA RHD is WPG's needs.

I agree. However, don’t think he will come over since he needs a translator and Winnipeg has no Russian players other than berdin who isn’t a lock to make the team next year so making the jump to Winnipeg probably isn’t best for him. Therefore, I moved him to a team that has a couple of Russian players.

I was thinking the jets get a middle 6 forward to push Stastny to 2c. Then a 3rd/4th line rw to round it out.

Something like:
Connor-scheifele-ehlers
X-dubios-wheeler
Copp-stastny-x
Perreault-Lowry-appleton.

Move around as you wish but generally those are the peices o would want to completely fill out the team.

Tbh, I’m not sure dougie is as good as his numbers say. From what I’ve seen, he doesn’t really use his size, and he is really soft. Not something the jets need imo. The jets have offensive defensemen now and for the future with pionk, JoMo, heinola, and even chisholm and gawanke coming up soon. Not sure dougie is worth the price tag for the jets. I’d rather go after a guys like savard at 3-4M per

Yeah, also think the Russian players don't want to spend much if any time in the AHL if they come over so if they're not guaranteed a spot they ain't coming and the Jets organization doesn't really do that.

I also don’t see appleton getting a chance in the top 6 anytime soon. The whole top six is okay decent so as long as someone doesn’t drop off severely or there’s an injury, I don’t see him getting a chance just yet.

Idk, I like the appleton Lowry combo. They play well together
